I am an experienced and professional pianist and music teacher; I have recently moved to Geneva.
I have worked in different Colleges in Cambridhe (UK) as music teacher and at NCA school in Cambridge from September 2014 to August 2015 as a Italian TA and Music Vice Teacher.
I achieved the “Orff-Schulwerk” qualification in 2010 at Tor Vergata University in Rome. In the last years, this method has become very popular and relevant for helping children to approach to music education by combining music, drama and speech into lessons that are similar to child's world of play.
Thanks to this qualification, I have achieved an excellent capability in relating to children from both an emotional and musical point of view. This makes me an ideal music teacher able to make every child involved and passionate with music.
Working closely with children I have developed the ability to empathize with their needs. I feel I am capable of understanding when they are losing interest or getting bored; proposing new teaching materials; always offering varied and different activities; dealing with pupils that are not willing to complete a set task.
When teaching for more than 50 pupils (of different ages, cultures and skills) I have learnt that it is absolutely necessary to be organised. I always prepare my lessons in advance to ensure that I can carefully plan every part of the lesson so to take into consideration the attention span of the pupil and to always make it interesting.
I follow the "Orff-Schulwerk" methodology when preparing a music lesson: I never enter a classroom without having a clear idea of everything that will happen during the hour. I create a "recurrence" by establishing points of reference at the beginning and end of the lesson. I offer new and different educational activities (play, draw, sing, dance). I take what the pupil can give at that time and work on it.
I never reprimand the student for their poor performance, instead I help them to do better with patience and kindness. I always involve parents in the musical development of children as they need to be teachers when the children are at home. I set the final objectives in collaboration with my students, being also aware that they will have to be reviewed and assessed in due course.
