5 Tips For A Better Nights Sleep On A Hot Night
1. Block out the sun
In the Simpsons, Monty Burns tried to block out the sun and you should too! The quality of your night is determined during the day. Starting at 9am, lower the blinds and close the windows. It feels like you’re turning your own home into a cave—and that’s a good thing, because a cave = cool.
2. No ice-cold showers
An ice-cold shower sounds logical at first, but it backfires: Afterward, your body ramps up heat production, which is why a lukewarm shower is the better idea.
3. Drink it lukewarm
Speaking of lukewarm, ice water is also a trap. Your body works to combat the cold, and in the end, you’ll sweat more than before. Lukewarm tea at 30 degrees might sound old-fashioned, but better old-fashioned than hot.
4. You can use a hot water bottle the other way around, too
Fill it with cold water, put it in the fridge for a few hours, then take it to bed with you at night. It works best on your calves or in the backs of your knees.
5. Less fabric, but the right kind
Linen and cotton let moisture escape. Polyester and satin wrap you up like a sandwich in plastic wrap.
Now it’s your turn: How do you cope with tropical nights? Or are you actually one of those strange people who can’t get warm enough? Let me know in the comments.
