A bit of a cyling theme this week as we have Cycle Week in town but there is a couple of great gigs and the Kreisflohmi returns on Saturday.

As you all know, i’m a big fan of cycling. Good for the mind, good for the body and with the added bonus of being environmentally friendly. So, whatever your level — from lycra-clad speed freak to relaxed e-bike commuter — Zurich Cycle Week will have something for you. The event takes place mainly around Europaallee, with manufacturers and experts on hand to help you find the perfect bike or your next tech upgrade.

But one of the best things about Cycle Week is seeing the pro riders up close. It’s genuinely wild what these people can do on a bike, so i’d definitely recommend checking out both the BMX Flatland competition, where cycling meets art, and the Züri Dirt Contest, where height, spins and questionable ideas of gravity dominate. Both are pretty spectacular.

Thurs - Sun, Zurich Cycle Week, Various Locations

Another bike event but i think it deserves a special mention. Cycling is far and away the best way to get around Zurich but you may be new to cycling in the city or you may even be new to the city altogether and be unfamiliar with it’s geography. Either way, Pro Velo Zürich have your back as they are offering a Züri by Bike For Newcomers social ride which you can register for here. Bring your bike, don’t forget to bring a helmet and perhaps you can learn a bit more about the city and even make some new friends on the way.
