Another open-air cinema? Just how many can one city host? As far as I’m concerned, as many as it likes, because I absolutely love them. Starting tonight, Zürichhorn plays host to Allianz Cinema, bringing a month of blockbusters, arthouse gems and the occasional classic to the lakeside. A number of screenings have already sold out, so if you fancy watching a film with Lake Zurich in front of you and the Alps on the horizon, don’t hang about – book your tickets now.

If you’re planning a visit to Allianz Cinema – or even if you’re not – there’s a new pop-up worth checking out just a stone’s throw away at Fischerhütte. So why should their «Riviera Nights» be on your radar? For starters, they’re serving mezcal-based cocktails, which I’m always happy to recommend. And thanks to their spot on the western shore of the lake, the terrace catches the evening sun right up until it disappears behind the Uetliberg. In other words, it’s prime golden-hour territory for that envy-inducing social media post.

This weekend sees an international diving contest! And no, i am definitely not talking about the World Cup Final. This weekend the dramatic Ponte Brolla in Ticino is the backdrop to the International Cliff Diving Championship where fearless athletes hurl themselves from heights of up to 20 metres into the chilly waters below. This long-running event takes place on 18 July (or 19 July if the weather has other ideas). In the days leading up to the competition, you can also watch the divers during their training sessions. As for me, you’ll find me next week at the local badi, shivering on the three-metre board, taking a very deep breath.

Summer is wonderful—until it creeps into the bedroom. Yesterday, I was still awake at three in the morning. Sprawled out like a starfish, sweating in places I didn’t even know existed. That’s not exactly restful, which is why today I looked for the best tips for getting through summer nights. None of this is new, but a reminder can be helpful sometimes. Stay cool people.

I have a complicated relationship with Jonathan Tropper, the man behind Lucky. He co-created Banshee, that gloriously brutal small-town thrill ride, and also gave us the solid Warrior. But then there was The Adam Project. So I’m approaching his latest series with cautious optimism. That said, there’s one factor that goes a long way towards tipping the scales: Anya Taylor-Joy. In Lucky she plays a con artist on the run from both the FBI and the Mafia, and she has a remarkable ability to elevate even the shakiest of scripts. I’m choosing to stay optimistic.
