The song «Take Me Out» is still a bit of a banger even after all these years. (Can you believe it’s been over 20 years?) Anyhoo, Franz Ferdinand, the band that penned the classic song (and many others), are paying a visit to The Hall this weekend. At the time of writing, a few tickets are still floating around. Grab two, turn to someone you like, and casually suggest they take you… er… there.

What would a Ron Orp newsletter be without a pop-up? There are more pop-ups in Zurich than in a jack-in-the-box factory, and this week it’s the turn of Damm — you know, the charming bar just downstream from that weird cage where people go swimming.

Anyway, the pop-up offers a five-course surprise meal (with a veggie option, of course) and features a different chef for each of the six weekends it’s running. Sounds amazing. I can’t wait to check out the «Lokum» weekend. Apparently, it means Turkish delight — and every Turkish meal I’ve had has been a delight.

Plenty of shows again this month. Lots and lots and lots of lovely shows for you wonderful Ronsters to enjoy. Set yourself a target, say eight shows this month, and see if you can hit it. I bet you can, and you’ll be happy because you’ve hit your goal and seen some fantastic live music.

It’s always good when you see a documentary or film that opens your eyes a little more to the world around you. On Tuesday night, I stumbled across a new release on Netflix called The Plastic Detox, and I learned some wild things about our relationship with plastic.

The documentary centres around Professor Shanna Swan and six couples, all of whom are trying to get pregnant, and the effect that plastics in our environment have on our general health, chances of conception and even the size of… you know… willies.

It’s a pretty fascinating insight and features some extraordinary footage. The segment with Senator John Kerry really struck me, and the ending of the documentary did bring a tear to my eye. Well worth checking out!
