What's The Craic

Why the unusual salutation? Well, this week’s newsletter has an unashamedly Irish theme as Monday is, of course, St Patrick’s Day. So not only have I included a tip regarding this (and it doesn’t involve sinking ten pints of Guinness), I have also come up with some connections between Switzerland and Ireland that you may not be aware of.

Recently, I have been reading the news with a sense of dread in the morning, with the thought, «What now?» running through my head as dismal story after dismal story occupies the feeds. My antidote? I have been watching Jimmy Kimmel on a certain video streaming service in the mornings, and do you know what? I start the day with a laugh and a smile and it really does pick me up. Thank you Jimmy and give it a try!

Have a great weekend and…

Give my love to the city

RONS TIPS

Print plays a big part this week, we have a great show at Dynamo, a party that gives you an excuse to hit the opera house and, of course, we celebrate Ireland this week.

Thursday: Printing With Lego? Really?
Friday: What is Komana? It’s A New Pop Up Store
Saturday: Grassroots Music In Grass Roots Venues. It’s The Kombinat Festival
Saturday: «Overdress» For The Opera House
Sunday: The Lottery Winners Play Dynamo
Monday: Celebrate St Patricks Day All Week Long

Popular culture has always portrayed St Patricks Day as drunken mayhem but let’s stay well away from that stereotype. A few pints of Guinness or Kilkenny is all well and good but Ireland has so much more to offer, particularly in the world of literature. Over the course of the weekend and well into next week there are events, organised by ireland.com, talking place that celebrate music, literature and sport from the Emerald Isle.

As you probably know, Monday is St Patrick’s Day, so the Emerald Isle gets a hefty mention in this week's newsletter. But it got me thinking – the two countries are so different, with Ireland being an, er… island and Switzerland being completely landlocked. Is there any connection? I’ve come up with eight fun facts to bore, amaze, and impress your friends, family, and co-workers.

Elon Musk, currently the second most annoying person in the world, (although JD Vance is challenging,) currently has over 380 billion US dollars. The website www.spend-elon-fortune.com lets me try anyway. There is a selection of different goods to buy: from a private jet for a mere 70 million to a modest average car for 25,000. The simulation shows in an impressive way how absurd such fortunes actually are.
