It’s a very exciting week for cycle lovers as the annual Cycle Week pedals it’s way into town. Whether you use your bike for commuting, a leisurely weekend ride, or you tear down the Uetliberg risking life and limb, Cycle Week will have something for you. The festival, as in previous years, centres on Europaallee, the Brunau Campus and the Jump Park at Sihlcity and features competitions, workshops and loads of opportunities to try and explore new bikes and gear.

My Tip: Enjoy the Street Trial (which includes the Bunnyhop Open,) or grab a beer at Bierwerk and check out the bonkers mix of dance and cycling that is the Artistic Bike Battle!

He featured as the prize in our competition last week and i’ve got tickets to give away this week. The French singer Ben L’Oncle Soul, who scored a hit with his version of the White Stripes classic, Seven Nation Army, is going to be playing at the Kaufleuten next Tuesday. I’ve always been fond of the Kanzlei quarter – the clack of pétanque balls echoing through the square, dappled sunlight filtering through the trees, and the comforting chill of a cold beer from the Xenix bar. But on this particular afternoon, as i basked in the golden haze of the setting sun, an intoxicating swirl of exotic spices wafted through the air and tugged irresistibly at my curiosity.

As a cyclist navigating the main station on Zurich is a bit of a chore. The options to either to walk your bike through the station, cycle around the station or cross the tracks using the footbridge at Gustav Gull Platz are not ideal so i’m pretty happy to see that a new bit of infrastructure is opening this week which will make cycling near the station much, much easier.
