Last week i mentioned that the city becomes pretty quiet with everyone heading off on holiday. But if you’re, like me, left behind, i have a location that can at least give you the impression you’re on the French Riviera or the Ligurian coast.

I’m going to rename the Hof in the Landesmuseum «Hip-Hof» as they have so many great events happening there. This Thursday sees the start of a perennial favourite, with the mirrored Rundfunk logo being taken out of storage and set rotating, complete with plumes of smoke. Don’t stress though – Rundfunk is going to be there for quite a few weeks – until 6th September in fact, so you’ve got plenty of time to make an appearance.

This Tuesday sees two giants of the blues appearing at the Kaufleuten to close the allblues.ch season. Guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Bobby Rush have three Grammy wins and twelve nominations between them, and they bring their mix of blues, soul and funk to Zurich for what is sure to be an incredible night.

We’re getting to the business end of the Euros, and we’ve got three mouthwatering ties coming up over the next couple of days (Norway or Italy booked their place in the Semis last night.). Tonight sees current holders England take on Sweden at the Letzi, and Saturday sees France take on Germany. But sandwiched in between, we have the mouthwatering prospect of Spain taking on the hosts, Switzerland.

But where to watch? I was going to put together a list, but the Tagi (that’s Tages-Anzeiger, folks) already beat me to it – and whilst their wonderful list of public viewing spots is in German it isn’t hidden behind a paywall. Love is in the Air – This Summer, I Want to Celebrate Love in All Its Forms

There are many things in Zurich that make hearts flutter, but the city becomes truly romantic in the evening, when the rooftops reflect golden light, the clouds turn pink, and the lake shimmers in warm hues. One thing I can say for sure: Zurich knows how to do sunsets. No matter which spot you choose – enjoy the sunset for me.
