Mon - Sun: A Week Of Creativity With Zurich Music Week (Scroll ⬇️ To Find Out More)

Here’s an interesting one: on Thursday night, the new Velo Tunnel is set to become the site of a rave—part protest, part party—taking aim at what can loosely be described as the city’s creeping gentrification and the destruction of its creative culture. The event, aptly named The Tunnel, kicks off at 6pm at Dynamo, before winding its merry way to the newly opened tunnel. Revellers will be dancing from 7pm to 11pm—or until the police show up, whichever comes first.

What is Zurich Music Week all about? Well… it’s not just about checking about bands. It’s about creativity, and good vibes. Whether you're into producing beats, exploring new ideas, or just enjoying great tunes, there’s something for everyone. You can join fun, hands-on workshops with artists like Samy Jackson and SKALA, dive into talks on cool topics like AI in music or club culture, and meet people who love music as much as you do. In the evenings, head to open-air gigs, parties at places like Hive and Kraftwerk, or just soak up the festival atmosphere around the city. It’s a week to get inspired and connect.

It’s August, so gigs are a bit thin on the ground, but I still have half a dozen or so shows to check out. Highlights include Extreme, who are playing this week at X-Tra, and UK dance duo Leftfield, who are performing at Rote Fabrik. We also have two weekends of Zürich Openair at the end of the month.

And don’t forget — this month also sees the start of the Theatre Spektakel, which, although I haven’t included it here, also features some live music as part of its programme.

A few years ago i posted a light hearted quiz posing the question «how Swiss are you?» but seriously, how much do you know about the country in which you live? As it’s Swiss national day tomorrow it might be fun to find out so I found a quiz website for you to test your knowledge? Be warned though - if you get too many questions wrong then you have to recharge your credit and that means paying for a subscription. And also be warned! The questions ain’t easy. Good luck.
