It sounds like some rom-com starring Hugh Grant. Except that there isn’t actually a funeral this week — but there are festivals, some big, some small. And there are the birthday parties too. Have fun, and I hope to see you all out and about. Oh… and there’s a bonus tip for you wannabe sommeliers.

Röntgenplatzfest, which starts tomorrow, is one of the later Quartierfests in the city’s calendar and, being supported by the SP, AL and Green Party, is possibly one of the more political. Get ready to fight the power. Or, rather than engaging in a furious political debate, you could simply enjoy the festival. You know the drill: a programme of live music and DJs, plus the obligatory food stands. And don’t forget the cold drinks.

This Saturday, Schlieren is alive. Why? Tenz Momo is turning 10, and if you haven’t tried their dumplings (that chilli sauce alone is worth the trip 🔥), you’re missing out. Live hip-hop, Tibetan dance, DJs Ruck P, Kobragypsy, Ado, Q-Tib… the beats don’t stop. Street food stalls, graffiti corners, karaoke, contests, a kids’ area—it’s chaos in the best way. Free entry, CHF 10 suggested donation to support the Tibetan Youth Association in Europe. Bring your appetite, your crew, and your love for Tenz. The streets are ready. Are you?

Probably less political than the Röntgenplatzfest, Zurich Openair holds  the first of it’s two weekends tomorrow. This weekend see Shawn Mendes, Portugal, The Man, Anyma and Halsey, (to name but a few,) hit the festival’s three stages. Sorry if you want to buy a VIP ticket for Saturday - they’ve already sold out but most of their tickets are still available.
