Let’s start with something for the queer community. Lila, Rote Fabrik’s queer festival, has its fabulous opening tonight. Drag queens Mona Gamie and Milky Diamond will guide you through this year’s programme, which features concerts, DJs, panel discussions and much more. The festival runs until Saturday and makes use of all the spaces at Rote Fabrik. My favourite? The brilliantly named drag creature. Klamydia von Karma.

Would you like to check out some new music? You’re in luck, as this Friday marks the start of the Radar Festival, which takes place across nine venues along (and just off) Langstrasse. The UK’s Alessi Rose kicks off the festival at Plaza, with artists from all over the world completing the line-up. It promises to be a great weekend of music.

A few weeks ago I included some material from the team at the Zurich Sportamt – and why not? Zurich is a great place for sport, from cycling to running to swimming to… well… whatever. But whilst Zurich is a fantastic city for sport, it also has a reputation for being somewhat lonely and a difficult place in which to make friends. And what better way to make friends than through sport? Language and social differences simply melt away.

Today is Knabenschiessen — candy floss, fairground stalls and daring rides all have their own, somewhat nausea-inducing charm. But before I set off on my annual trip to the Albisgütli, I wanted to find out why Knabenschiessen actually exists. It turns out the origins of this folk festival go back 700 years.
