Gemini (21 May – 20 June)

We kick off with the zodiac sign that wears two faces. When it comes to the positives, Geminis are seen as communicative, curious, flexible and versatile. On the other side of the coin, they tend to get bored easily and play fast and loose with where their loyalties lie. This duality may also explain why Geminis often juggle multiple interests, ideas and opinions – all at once. Multifaceted and spontaneous, they make excellent company.

That said, Geminis don’t exactly have the best reputation, at least if we’re talking about relationships. As the stereotype goes, they have more commitment issues than a cheap umbrella in a hurricane. Personally, though, the Geminis in my circle of friends have always been the opposite: they jump right in with both feet and are always there to offer support when the going gets tough.

Hotel type: Art & culture hotels
Geminis thrive in environments where things are happening all around them. They’re happiest when their temporary home comes with adventure on the doorstep – whether galleries, cafés, bars or restaurants. A stylish art & culture hotel is just the ticket, because it gives them what they crave most: diverse options, inspiration and the freedom to follow their whims.

My recommendation: Greulich Design Hotel
Situated in the heart of Zurich, the Greulich feels like it was created especially for Geminis. The hotel’s interior effortlessly balances creative flair and social energy with striking design choices. But there’s far more to the Greulich than that: from partnerships with local brands, art showcases and an on-site yoga studio to bikes for guests, late check-out and trendy Thai restaurant 555+, it has all the variety and flexibility a Gemini could wish for – no compromises necessary.

Cancer (21 June – 22 July)

Caution is king: this is the motto by which Cancers approach life. They keep their cards close to their chest, first observing the situation before offering their opinion. This gives them a reputation for being hard, at least on the outside, though this is matched by an inner softness that makes them caring, loyal and invested in the well-being of others – once you gain their trust.

Ruled by the Moon, Cancers are guided by emotion, intuition and memory, meaning they tend to hold onto things long after others have moved on. This makes them deeply sensitive to the world around them, but it also means they can struggle to let go. No wonder their symbol is the crab: once those pincers grab hold, they can hang on forever.

Hotel type: Group & family hotels
Cancers are drawn to places that offer a sense of security and warmth – in short, a home away from home. Group & family hotels are ideally suited to their high sensitivity, because they represent what Cancers value most: togetherness, familiarity and the chance to make new memories that linger for all the right reasons.

My recommendation: Hotel La Campagnola
Cancers love the sun – no wonder, given that they are born in the middle of summer – so a jaunt to the warm climes of Ticino feels especially fitting. Overlooking Lake Maggiore, La Campagnola is a hotel that combines Mediterranean charm with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Think lazy afternoons spent by the pool beneath the shade of a palm tree and a stay so enjoyable it’ll never be forgotten.

Leo (23 July – 22 August)

I recently overheard someone say: “The best person in your life is probably a Leo.” The astrological profile for this sign seems to support that claim: Leos are known for being confident, charismatic, generous and creative to boot. They have an innate ability to inspire others and make almost anything feel more exciting.

The trade-off is that Leos crave attention. They live to be seen, appreciated and occasionally admired, which can sometimes make them come across as dramatic or a little too self-assured. Lucky for them, showing genuine affection comes naturally, too.

Hotel type: Luxury hotels
Leos gravitate towards places with presence: stylish surroundings, top hospitality and a dash of glamour. For this sign, a stay away should feel like a worthy indulgence, and luxury hotels guarantee an experience worthy of the king of the jungle.

My recommendation: Mandarin Oriental Palace Lucerne
Settling for second best simply isn’t in a Leo’s vocabulary. If they’re staying at a hotel, they want all the elegance and luxury that comes with it. Located directly on the shore of Lake Lucerne, the Mandarin Oriental Palace Lucerne meets these expectations with ease. The hotel combines historic charm with modern luxury, while the lakeside promenade offers the perfect excuse for Leos to dress up and strut their stuff. Spacious, assured and unapologetically grand, this palace is perfectly matched to one of the zodiac’s most magnetic signs.

Virgo (23 August – 22 September)

Virgos are the perfectionists of the zodiac. Analytical, organised and reliable, they’re the ones keeping everything running smoothly in the background. They notice details others miss, solve problems long before they can become crises and often show affection through practical gestures rather than grand declarations.

This natural drive to take action does have its downsides: overthinking, being overly critical towards others and setting impossibly high standards both for themselves and others. On the surface, they can appear aloof and controlled, while on the inside a restless mind prevents them from ever truly switching off. Deep down, though, they simply want everything – and everyone – to be okay.

Hotel type: Boutique & design hotels
Virgos appreciate hotels where every last detail has clearly been considered. A beautifully designed boutique hotel with a calm atmosphere, attentive service and a reassuring sense that everything is exactly where it should be allows this often overactive sign to finally relax – without feeling the urge to take control themselves.

My recommendation: Hôtel Bristol
Attention to detail and total comfort go hand in hand at Geneva’s Hôtel Bristol. Every element feels deliberate, from the Art-Deco-inspired interior and soundproofed, air-conditioned rooms through to the hotel restaurant and its 14 GaultMillau points. Even the most discerning Virgo would struggle to find fault here, and that’s quite the compliment. As an added bonus, there’s a hammam and a bar offering live music for guaranteed relaxation.

Do you have high standards when it comes to hotels? No problem – Switzerland Tourism offers a curated selection of the best hotels in Switzerland.

Libra (23 September – 22 October)

Libras are lovers of art and the peacemakers of the zodiac. Charming and sensitive, their strength lies in bringing balance to everything around them. This is why Libras avoid conflict wherever possible and prefer mediation over confrontation – a skill supported by their high emotional intelligence and adaptability. They also tend to have a natural appreciation for beauty and style, so they’re exactly the kind of people to trust with outfit advice.

Of course, when you’re trying to keep everyone happy, it can sometimes be difficult to know what a Libra is really thinking. Add an inclination towards indecisiveness and this can occasionally lead to frustration. Still, as natural diplomats, they’ll soon smooth things over.

Hotel type: Responsible hotels
Libras are naturally drawn to places that feel balanced in every sense, especially those that combine an intelligent concept with a commitment to sustainability – and that’s exactly what a responsible hotel delivers. Of course, there’s no substitute for style in this zodiac sign’s world, so the aesthetics have to be on point, too.

My recommendation: Hotel Kartause Ittingen
What could suit the Libra mindset better than a hotel housed within a former monastery? Nestled in peaceful green surroundings along the river Thur, Kartause Ittingen unites history with a modern approach to sustainability within its 900-year-old walls. The hotel is deeply committed to ecological, economic and social responsibility, even embracing a “zero-kilometre philosophy”, where ingredients travel directly from the on-site farm, gardens and barn to the kitchen. It also hosts workshops centred around mindfulness and communication. Altogether, it’s a modern retreat with plenty of beauty and soul.

Scorpio (23 October – 21 November)

I know people who would genuinely end a date the moment they found out the other person was a Scorpio. Because this zodiac sign is, let’s just say… intense. In my opinion, dismissing that intensity as something negative would be a mistake. Because that personality trait is what makes Scorpios passionate, loyal and emotionally profound.

Admittedly, Scorpios do have a reputation for being jealous, secretive and cunning at times. But they’re also incredibly perceptive when it comes to human nature and fiercely protective of the people they care about. As friends, they’re true ride-or-die companions.

Hotel type: Swiss historic hotels
Scorpios connect with places that have an air of mystery about them, are steeped in history or both. Swiss historic hotels are full of hidden treasures and can tell more stories than a public library. Scorpios will be in their element.

My recommendation: Jugendstil-Hotel Paxmontana
Paxmontana. The name alone carries a certain mystique – just right for passionate Scorpios. Built in 1896 and perched on a hill overlooking the mountainous landscape of Obwalden, this hotel is rich with history and intrigue. The original 47-meter-long veranda invites guests to take a stroll and guess at the many secrets contained within the building’s walls. And with 83 rooms on the premises, Scorpios will have more than enough material for their favourite pastime: quietly analysing everyone around them.

Sagittarius (22 November– 21 December)

Ever had a chance encounter with a stranger on holiday and come away feeling unusually upbeat? Chances are that stranger was a Sagittarius. This sign is known for its optimism, honesty and constant thirst for adventure – which is why they often travel alone. Sagittarians value freedom above almost everything else. They love exploring unfamiliar places, chasing new experiences and discussing life’s bigger questions, though usually with humour to lighten the mood.

Of course, this boundless energy can sometimes spill over into impulsiveness, overconfidence and a fear of staying still for too long. And yes, Sagittarians do occasionally speak before they think – tact isn’t always their strongest quality. Still, a deep conversation is guaranteed.

Hotel type: Typically Swiss hotels
Sagittarians gravitate towards places that feel authentic, uncomplicated and close to nature. If they’re holidaying in Switzerland, they’ll expect the full experience: alpine air, proper hospitality and surroundings that feel unmistakably Swiss.

My recommendation: Hotel Restaurant Schützen Steffisburg
Was choosing a hotel called Schützen – the German word for Sagittarius – for this zodiac sign a coincidence on my part? Of course not. But the connection goes far deeper than the name alone. This historic inn is a shining example of the honesty and straightforwardness Sagittarians value so highly. Nothing feels overdone or artificial, while the 24-hour self-check-in suits this fiercely independent sign down to the ground. The hotel bar has a superb selection of Swiss whiskies to accompany long philosophical conversations, while the nearby Lake Thun is a gateway to impromptu adventures. For Sagittarius, it’s difficult to imagine a more fitting base for a holiday.

Capricorn (22 December – 19 January)

Capricorns hold themselves to a high personal standard and rarely do things by half measures. Ambitious, disciplined and dependable, they’re the ones diligently working towards their long-term goals while all around them fall prey to distraction. They have a reputation for staying calm under pressure, thinking practically and approaching challenges with patience and pragmatism.

The downside is that Capricorns can disappear into their work and turn activities that should be relaxing into just another opportunity to be productive. Still, beneath that composed, occasionally pessimistic exterior is a sign that finds satisfaction in doing things properly.

Hotel type: Meeting hotels
For Capricorns, a hotel stay shouldn’t turn into a workation. Still, that doesn’t necessarily mean having abandoning productivity altogether. They’re probably the only zodiac sign capable of genuinely enjoying a meeting hotel. Fortunately, modern seminar hotels are designed to balance professional focus with enough comfort and leisure to make work and relaxation coexist surprisingly well.

My recommendation: Hôtel des Horlogers
Located in the Jura Valley, Hôtel des Horlogers is a natural match for Capricorn energy. Sophisticated yet understated, the hotel combines exceptional design, sustainability and culinary quality with the kind of calm efficiency Capricorns naturally appreciate. And while there’s plenty of space to sit back and recharge, there’s no shortage of activities either. Cycling routes, outdoor sports and lush surroundings offer ambitious guests countless ways to stay active. Honestly, it wouldn’t be surprising if a Capricorn arrived for a conference and left with a five-year plan.

A vacation in Switzerland is perfect for anyone who doesn’t want to compromise on accommodations: Switzerland Tourism offers a unique selection of hotels and the highest standards.

Aquarius (20 January – 18 February)

“This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius!” Remember that song from the musical Hair? This iconic 1960s counterculture anthem more or less captures the essence of the typical Aquarian: unconventional, original, visionary and a little rebellious. This zodiac sign inspires others with their unique way of thinking and their willingness to see the world differently. They tend to strike their own path rather than follow the crowd.

This maverick streak is probably why an Aquarius can sometimes come across as distant or difficult to read. One moment they’re discussing how to improve society, and the next they’ve disappeared into the mountains with their phone switched off. Still, you have to admire their independence

Hotel type: Extraordinary hotels
For an Aquarius, a hotel stay should never feel ordinary. Whether through its design concept, architecture or location, the ideal hotel for this sign needs to offer individuality and originality while having at least one feature that makes people say: “Wait, you stayed where?”

My recommendation: Whitepod Original
“Just be different” could easily be the motto for Aquarians, especially when it comes to travel. In that spirit, a standard hotel simply won’t fit the bill – and it’s why Whitepod Original makes such a compelling choice. Located 1,400 metres above sea level in Valais, this “hotel”, if you can call it that, consists of futuristic high-tech pods overlooking the valley below. The concept combines innovation with environmental awareness, something that naturally appeals to the enterprising Aquarius, while the unusual setting has the sense of novelty and independence they are always looking for. Even the activities on offer are unconventional: dog sledding, anyone?

Pisces (19 February – 20 March)

Empathetic, creative and deeply intuitive, Pisces are the ultimate dreamers of the zodiac. They generally go with the flow, following instinct over plans. Many are drawn to spirituality and any outlet that allows them to disconnect from everyday stress for a while, which may explain why horoscopes tend to have a particularly strong hold over this sign.

Their intuition is so strong that a Pisces will sometimes retreat into their own inner world when reality becomes a little too overwhelming. Naturally, that also gives them a tendency towards escapism and a strong need for solitude – but don’t we all need that from time to time?

Hotel type: Snow sports hotels
Given that this zodiac sign is represented by two fish, you might think a Pisces would be most at home by water. In actual fact, snowy mountain landscapes are much more suited to their sensibilities. The quiet atmosphere, soft scenery and peaceful isolation high above the world make for exactly the kind of dreamy environment in which this sign feels most at ease.

My recommendation: rocksresort
rocksresort is more than a hotel – it’s a resort. Romantic getaway? Family holiday? A weekend with friends? It’s all possible here. Even dogs are welcome. Located in Laax, it offers countless ways for a Pisces to slow down and slip into holiday mode, whether that means browsing the resort’s shops, enjoying a delicious dinner or strapping on the planks and taking the gondola up to the piste.

Aries (21 March – 19 April)

Did someone say adrenaline junkie? Brave, energetic and assertive, Aeries throw themselves into life headfirst. Their confidence and spontaneity are infectious, and they have the neat ability to convince everyone else to come along for the ride.

It’s not all fun and games, though. Aries can’t stand waiting around, dislike being told what to do and can occasionally come across as impatient, impulsive or hot-headed. It’s hard not to admire their zest for life, though.

Hotel type: Bike hotels
Action, movement and adventure: that’s the Aries way in a nutshell. For this sign, the perfect hotel isn’t somewhere that involves kicking back with their feet up – it’s a jumping-off point that allows them to dive right into the action.

My recommendation: Grischa – DAS Hotel Davos
Located right by the Jakobshorn cable car, Grischa – DAS Hotel Davos is the ideal base for an adventurous Aries, as the mountains are right on their doorstep. This hotel holds a special place for cyclists, with guided bike tours and rooms stocked with energy bars and isotonic drinks, plus bike backpacks and trail maps available to rent. There’s even a secure bike garage complete with compact workshop and washing area, alongside personalised route recommendations for guests eager to head straight into the mountains.

Taurus (20 April – 20 May)

Anyone with a Taurus in their circle of friends will recognise the type immediately: loyal, reliable and very physically and emotionally present in their relationships. Taureans value stability, comfort and emotional security, and they tend to show up consistently for the people they care about. They’re also classic bon vivants, meaning they’re happiest when enjoying life’s small pleasures.

Of course, this love of comfort can also make Taurus signs resistant to change. They’re famously stubborn and don’t respond particularly well to criticism or disappointment. Once a Taurus digs their heels in, changing their mind is rarely easy – but you have to respect their determination.

Hotel type: Spa & wellness hotels
For a Taurus, a holiday should feel like a genuinely restorative experience. Comfort, tranquillity and indulgence matter far more than packed itineraries or high-octane adventures. That’s exactly why spa & wellness hotels are a natural fit for this pleasure-loving zodiac sign.

My recommendation: Beatus Wellness- & Spa-Hotel
Located in Merligen, directly on the shores of Lake Thun, the Beatus Wellness- & Spa-Hotel offers the kind of calm, comfort and privacy Taureans appreciate most. With an amazing 277 metres of private lakeside access – one of the longest in Switzerland – there’s more than enough space for guests to switch off. Days here are about slow pleasures: sunbathing, regionally inspired cuisine and a distinctly unhurried pace of life. Perhaps most reassuring of all for this routine-loving sign: the hotel has been run by the same team since 1988.
