As it’s the long Easter weekend and we will all have extra time and chocolate on our hands, I thought I’d recommend an out-of-town event for a change, just in case you forgot that there exists a Switzerland beyond Oerlikon. The Electron Festival in Geneva will be drawing in friends, fans and creators of electronic music from all over the world during its 4-day schedule. In addition to numerous concerts and dj sets there are also exhibitions, conferences and courses teaching electronic music. My musical highlights: Brandt Brauer Frick, Mouse on Mars and Goldie. Geneva isn’t quite as cool as Zurich but for one Easter weekend only, we’ll give them their dues.

Wydenstrasse 7 may just seem like any other ordinary address in Zurich but if you go there sometime over this weekend and ring the bell, the front door will be opened to you and what waits behind is a Pandora’s box of delights. On Thursday a dinner will be served accompanied by two French chanson singers (needs reservation), Friday and Saturday has some creative workshops, as well as a great sprinkling of live bands and djs. A bar is also open for all 3 nights. Saturday, in particular, looks like it’s going to be an all-nighter.

Who needs a time machine when you have Cabaret Voltaire? This Saturday they bring the roaring 20's back to life with a fully themed night of feather boas, divas and dandies. They have a couple of live bands to Charleston to, poker games and even silent movies. Entry fee includes champagne or absinthe to relieve the shock of time travel. They are also shooting their own film during the night, so be sure to dress the part.
Saturday 9 pm, Cabaret Voltaire

Dj Drop the Lime has risen to fame over the last few years as electro has fallen to the rise of dubstep, and he will be at Exil on Sunday during one of his rare visits to Europe. Known for his creatively wild dj sets that also include raucous singing and crazy dancing (by the dj, not just the crowd), this should be a Sunday night that makes you glad Monday morning is another day off.  Support comes from djs Malente, Riot School and The Backspin Boys.
Sunday 11 pm, Exil

Winter is gone and if you need a new outfit to welcome spring - check out the pop-up store Shortrun at Helvetiaplatz where you’ll find sneakers, shirts and jackets by various street wear labels until the 21 April. The clothes are displayed amongst art works by young Zurich street artists and djs provide happy tunes to bring you into a sunny mood.

Drink global - eat local is the motto of the new burger place in Zurich which opens its doors this Wednesday. Korner will serve the best meat with a local smile and drinks from all over the world. So if you wonder what Cheese Please or The Godfather taste like - read my review next week or give the new undertaking by one of the organizers of Abart a try yourself.

Maybe you’re planning to give your balcony or window sill a thought over Easter? Then have a look at Stadttomaten. Green, yellow, purple or white – tomatoes come in all colours and shapes. Pro Specie Rara supports the cultivation and protection of rare species by making ancient tomato seedlings available to everyone. All you need is some earth, sun, water and a seedling of your choice. Throughout April there are various places where you get such a seedling to harvest colourful and special tomatoes throughout the summer months. Bring some colour to Zurich.

The third release The Other Side by Berlin producer Robot Koch is calmer and more spherical than his last one. In 8 of the 13 songs on the solo album he gets supported vocally, amongst the guest artists you find singer/songwriter John Lamica. Robot shows his audience another kind of electronic music, one that invites you to relax and let your thoughts wander. Listen
