If you like your music loud and fuzzy, you probably know that Thursday nights at Gonzo are usually taken over by Stronzo and their specially invited rock ’n’ roll djs. Tonight it’s the Toblerone Overdose DJ Team, whose own broad definition of rock ’n’ roll stretches from hot funk, cold punk, and even if it’s old junk. (I so rarely get to quote Billy Joel these days). Unusually for a Thursday, there’ll also be a flea market happening in the club before the party begins. So if you’re in the mood for a little shopping followed by a little bopping  - go Gonzo. Entry free before midnight.

There comes a time in all our lives when we realise that opportunity and destiny are the same thing. A moment that destroys your meaningless past and ushers in a glorious future. That moment arrives for you on Friday and Saturday with the Swiss Series of Beer Pong at X-tra. Teams of two will compete against each other in this ancient sport of kings, as they attempt to lob ping-pong balls across tables into plastic cups full of beer. The winners will gain entry to the World Series of Beer Pong taking place in Las Vegas in January and have a chance to be crowned rulers of the world. If you’re quick it’s still possible to register a team and there’s free entry for any spectators.

Having had previous with Zukunft and Cabaret clubs, the owners of new mini-club, Kauz, have a pretty good track record when it comes to keeping me entertained when the sun goes down, so I’m looking forward to Friday and Saturday as they open their doors for the first time. They promise an intimate space with retro sofas, smoking room and music of the most eclectic nature. Kauz will be mainly a bar but should have enough of a dance floor for you to do that sexy-shuffle thing you do. Entry before midnight is free.

Just like their extinct namesake, The Dodos are an odd proposition. The Californian duo, while at heart are a folk band, have always brought into their music the weird and wonderful from other genres. Whether that be African tribal drumming or space-age synth sounds, their music always ends up in the place you least expected it to be. They bring their whirling, psychedelic flights of fancy to El Lokal on Saturday.

Zurich is obviously the apple of my eye but occasionally my gaze does wander to pastures new, especially when those pastures offer such delights. Bad Bonn is one of Switzerland best music venues. It’s also in Düdingen, near Fribourg. But fear not, my Ronsters, I wouldn’t leave you to fend for yourself in such foreign surroundings. On Tuesday (19th) psychedelic popster, Jacco Gardner and on Wednesday (20th) melancholic space folkateer Phosphorescent will both be playing live. Though it’s called old year’s eve run (Silvester in German), the Silvester Run never takes place on 31st of December. Due to practical reason. This year it's on the 15th, which gives you enough time to recover for the festive season. I try to take part every year, first because I like to explore the city this way, second because it forces me to train despite the bad weather and third so I can eat as much as I want over the holidays. You can register until the end of the November for the run through Zurich. There are various distances to choose from, up to 10 kilometres. And then there is nothing stopping you from also taking part at Zurich Marathon in April 2014. To ensure that you're fit enough, there is also a preparation training running from now until April. I have 1 registration for the marathon and 3 registrations for the Silvesterlauf to give away for free. Just send me an email. See you at the starting line.

The cold weather might make your eyes water, but the white fluff arrives just in time for the season opening of the Swiss skiing regions. Here are a few special events that celebrate the occasion. Engelberg: Swepa hosts the Season Opening Party in Engelberg’s Ski Lodge. If you cannot wait to get your feet on skis join the festive Swedish group by registering on their website. The package includes two overnight-stays (starting this Friday) including rental, transport, food and party. Saas Fee: The slope on the glacier of Saas-Fee is open all year around. In November you can test the latest skis and snowboards for a small extra fee on your ski pass every weekend. Davos: Davos’ season begins a week alter with a lot of beats. For the first time, the Snow Zone electro festival takes place there from 22-24 November.

I had some errands to run at Sihlcity towards the end of October. First time I passed the open area within I noticed a construction going on. The next day, half a house was standing there and after three days, a beautiful alpine chalet tempted me to go in. Of course I couldn’t resist. Inside, I found a welcoming staff serving five different kinds of fondue (as well as a lot of other dishes to choose from, but they had me hooked at fondue). I chose the house-version, my company the truffle one.  I felt like I was beamed to the mountains within seconds. But my walk home remained the same distance. It just took me a bit longer as usual, as I had to try the special selection of Schnaps of course.

The Zurich based firm Seating – Vintage Design Chairs repairs, sells, buys, leases and also finds the vintage chairs of your dreams. Stefan Keller, the initiator, really cares about his products so whether you want to buy or have an old one to fix, you’ll be in good hands. I’m sure you know by now that I like burgers. And though i'm known to be a bit of a know-it-all when it comes to meat in a bun, I’ve never seen anything like the pictures of the French graphic design duo Thomas and Quentin. They craft luxurious but totally edible burgers influenced by pop culture, history and religion.
