...a few organisational matters:

1. A huge thank you to all who are opening their roof terraces and rooftops for us. You are not only the greatest Ronsters but also the kindest, smartest and most beautiful.

2. Please remember that you’ll find yourselves in residential places, and so appropriate behaviour is expected. The organisers decide when the terrace is full, whether it has to be closed due to weather conditions, etc. But I know you Ronsters were raised in the right way, and there’s never been a problem before.

3. Like last year, there is a map for your Smartphone which can be printed out. Images can be uploaded to  Rooftop Photo Trip. Also, I'm looking forward to all your impressions via social media using #rooftopday2015. You can also send me pictures on snapchat (Username: ronorp) or on Instagram.

Yoga, meditation, spiritual music and breakfast on the roof? You can get it all at WAHE Yoga ! The early morning starts with a Sadhana (morning meditation) until 7.30 am, after which tea and yogic breakfast will be served. In the afternoon, there's Kundalini Yoga lessons and meditation, at night maybe a surprise concert. See details of the program here. Registration required.

5 am to 9 pm, Goldackerweg 20

Also in Kreis 2 you can enjoy a full and stretchy morning. Rather than be wrapped in your bedclothes as the morning birds taunt you, why not complete a few yoga exercises. Can the day start any better? Not likely. Registration required.

9 am to 12 pm, Waffenplatzstrasse 30

Live the dream and enjoy the beautiful view! Have you ever been in a hot tub with views of the city? Then come with me to the terrace of Holmes Place via the Jelmoli building. Get a cocktail at the bar, get in the jacuzzi and let yourself be massaged by the jet sprays. They’ll also have a BBQ and dj music.

9 am to 8 pm, Steinmühleplatz 1

As with any good BBQ, everyone is responsible for grilling their own food (meat, sausages, salads, bread). For the extra sauces and spices, the sports and fitness club Holmes Place Crowne Plaza takes charge! Also for the thirsty there is everything from A (Alcohol-free) to B (Beer) they’ll even go as far as C (Cocktails) just for you. See here for event details.

9 am to 8 pm, Badenerstrasse 420

20 authors responded to a call for stories from the Pestalozzi library and EB Zurich on the theme 'Man should cultivate his garden', an idea expressed by French Enlightenment thinker Voltaire. The stories will be read on the rooftop terrace of GZ Riesbach every hour. In between there’ll be time for exchanges, discussions, meetings and refreshments at the bar. Stories in German. 12 pm to 6 pm, GZ Riesbach, Seefeldstrasse 93

Whenever I stroll along the lake promenade, I often have a jealous glance up at the beautiful Sky Bar terrace of the5-Star Eden au Lac hotel. I don’t mind mixing with the sweaty crowds on the lakefront but it would sometimes be nice to bask in comfort on the breezy rooftop. Well, that day has finally arrived! And apparently appetizers and snacks will also be offered. 

12 pm to 10 pm, Utoquai 45

Take the lift to the right of the concierge desk to the 5th floor and follow the signs.

On Rooftop Day the gathering at Rudolfstrasse is back. Under the slogan, ‘Fun - let's come together this time with Alpen panorama drinks’ (great name!) There’ll be music and a huge chunk of fun!

1 pm to 10 pm, Rudolfstrasse 6

Entry through the courtyard of Gletscherstrasse

Here you can enjoy the afternoon in the sun while the barbecue sizzles in the background (grilling your brought along food) while you sip on a drink. Whoever appears in a bikini or swimming trunks and plunges into the pool, will be offered a Mitch-Special-Drink, personally served by the most beautiful of all lifeguards (Oh là là)! Incidentally, this roof terrace has won a competition organised by Heineken - I am excited!

2 pm to 6 pm, Seebahnstrasse 115

Ring at the top right. If no one opens up then the rooftop is already full

The higher up the mountain you climb, the better the view. Riedtlistrasse 27 is the most elevated terrace this year. These simple facts are followed by a simple message: Best patio, best views, best drinks, best music, the greatest grill, top djs! Sounds like a promise!

2 pm to 10 pm, Riedtlistrasse 27

In wonderful Wiedikon there are many beautiful old houses. On top of these houses, like cherries on a cake, are perched some great roof terraces. To discover one such jewel head to Bremgartnerstrasse 74, where you’ll find a terrace full of good people, good atmosphere and good djs serving up deep house, tech-house and club classics.

3 pm to 11 pm, Bremgartnerstrasse 74

How many times have you been in a penthouse? I don’t mean in your daydreams and I surely don’t mean the magazine, but in real life? Thought so! Well it's high time you raised your game: In the penthouse with terrace of the Hotel Greulich you expect a bar with summer drinks, snacks and music.

4 pm to 10 pm Hermann-Greulich-Strasse 56

Use hotel entrance and follow the signs

At Heinrichstrasse the motto is - bring your own BBQ stuff. On two grills you Ronsters can let your sausages sizzle and meat marinade. There is, of course, a fantastic view and live music with electric piano and guitar!

4 pm to 11 pm, Heinrichstrasse 245

From the rocking of Jets To Unknown to the gentle singer/songwriter This is Dora , this rooftop will be an evening of extremes. From 7 pm, each band will be playing two half hour acoustic sets. Then as the night drifts into morning dj Charles Meyer will lead the way. For refreshment, Nidwaldner Chilliwürst and cool beers will be on offer.

6 pm to late, Albisriederstrasse 315

Konnichiwa. On this rooftop the modern classic Lost in Translation with Bill and Scarlett will be showing on an endless loop, karaoke will be sung, you can eat grilled Japanese rice balls and, before midnight is reached an attempt to fold 1000 origami cranes. If that all sounds too much you can also just sip whiskey and enjoy the night view over Höngg.

6 pm to 12 am, Hardturmstrasse 253

Just like in previous years of Rooftop Day, you'll get the opportunity to ascend to the roof of Triemlispital, which isn’t even accessible to employees. It’ll give you a phenomenal view over the city, the lake and the Glarus Alps. Only 2 groups of 12 people will be admitted, and it’ll be on a first come, first served basis. Register here. CHF 6.-

8 pm first group / 8.30 pm second group, Birmensdorferstrasse 497

Guests are welcomed from 19:45 in reception at the main entrance of Triemlispital.
