Before the fun begins on Saturday...

...a few organisational matters:
 
1. A huge thank you to all of you who are opening their roof terraces and rooftops for us. This year is the biggest yet, and it's all because of you. You are not only the greatest Ronsters but also the kindest, smartest and most beautiful.
 
2. Please remember that you'll sometimes find yourselves in residential homes, and so appropriate behaviour is expected. The organisers decide when the terrace is full, whether it has to be closed due to weather conditions, etc. But I know you Ronsters were raised the right way, and you’ve never been anything but a credit to the Ronster family before.

3. Like last year, there is a map for your phone which can be printed out. Images can be uploaded to the Rooftop Phototrip or on the Facebook page. I'm also looking forward to all your impressions via Twitter using #rooftopday2016 or Instagram.

Roof terraces right on the Niederdorfli aren’t represented enough on Rooftop Day, that’s why I’m happy an invitation has come from Brunngasse for a sunset soirée with beer and bubbly. The hosts are from Australia, Poland, Mexico and Switzerland, and the flair will be accordingly international.
Note: For safety reasons, the number of places is limited. If the roof terrace is full, it will be pointed out with a note on the door.

From the treadmill directly to the rooftop bar - that’s my kind of gym workout.  The wonderful roof terrace of Holmes Place Health Club is opening for Rooftop Day, and not just for fitness seekers. They’ll have bbq, drinks and djs playing into the evening and, just in case you do need to feel close to physical activity, the European Championship football matches will be broadcast live.
3 pm to 23 pm, Steinmühleplatz 1, Jelmoli 5th/6th floor

 

 

Heinrichstrase 245 is opening their rooftop again for this Rooftop Day. They’ll have bbq, music and a few cold beers on offer but the theme of this party is ‘Bring Your Own’. They supply the terrace and view, you supply the other entertainment. Seems a fair deal. Karma Booster: Anyone who brings a cake for the buffet will be  seen as a golden hero. In case of rain the event will be canceled.

Also for the second time is this small but cozy roof terrace in the heart of Wiedikon. Lovers of electronic music should feel right at home at this  home and can celebrate until late into the night. Music is supplied by the Zurich dj Jestics, known from the Hive and Freida’s Büxe, plus some other local talent. Snacks will be provided!

The roof of Triemlispital is not even accessible to the employees, but this Rooftop Day you get the chance to climb to the roof and enjoy the phenomenal view to the lake and the Glarner Alps. Each trip to the sky is for 12 people, accompanied by a hospital employee (respectively at 7 pm, 7.30 pm, 8 pm and 8.30 pm). Register with [email protected]

At Supertext, the motto for the day is: cursing is cool! They’ll be showing outtakes, bloopers and gaffes (with appropriate swearing) from movies from all over the world. They’ll also have some badass hot dogs and beer, and if that's not enough, grab the mic and battle lesser mortals to take your rightful place on the Karaoke throne.

Whenever I stroll along the lake promenade, I often have a jealous glance up at the beautiful Sky Bar terrace of the 5-Star  Eden au Lac hotel. I don't mind mixing with the sweaty crowds on the lakefront but it would sometimes be nice to bask in comfort on the breezy rooftop. Well, that day has finally arrived! Note: Take the lift to the right of the concierge desk to the 5th floor and follow the signs.

Rooftop Day expands its arms to embrace Oerlikon this year. At the modern and lively Hunziker Areal we celebrate Rooftop Day on the roof terrace of Genossenschaftsstrasse 13, the highest point of this new district. They’ll have djs playing deep and techno-house. Hunziker Areal may be new but I like it already!
 Note: Access to the roof terrace is only for over 18’s, children and young people must be accompanied.
 In case of rain the event will be canceled.

The sun shines on your smiling face while you sip on a cold beer, in the background the bbq sizzles while the mellow bass of the summer soundtrack whispers from the speakers. This is how i like to spend my summer days. And that's what you get at Seebahnstrasse 115. Bring your own bbq stuff

If you’re worried about missing any of the action from the European Championship while travelling the rooftops of Zurich, then fret no longer and rise to the roof terrace of Langstrasse 94. There’ll be a grill sizzling with hot dogs, various Zurich beers, Sangria, special cocktails, a prediction game and all the football your heart desires.

15-20 people can participate in a yoga session with lululemon on the terrace of Hiltl Akademie, and there are four sessions planned. Mats are available, as well as some chilled-out beats. And once you’ve been stretched out, get smooth, as food experts will be on hand to create the perfect smoothie for you.

You’ll only get access to the roof of Winzerhalde if you are giving a horticultural helping hand to this sprawling terrace or want to charm the plant life with your musical serenades. So bring a guitar, triangle or church organ, or a seedling, worm or palm tree. Food and drinks are available, as is a beautiful view overlooking the Limmat.

Where should I begin? Well, with the rooftop: Located in the industrial part of town with a view overlooking Toni Rampe and the urban skyline. Then to the art & design: pan mobili and BOB will show their furniture, Naughty Linen their textiles, vonturm their lights, Alessandra Villa her art and tinatina! their accessories. And then on to the music. Royal Riot will be playing live, with Schalter & Falter, Yours Truly, Rene & the Powerpuff Girls and Fratello del Sole djing. Is that enough for you?

At Asylstrasse 125 you’ll get your fill of beats from techno to house to dance to Latin, and your choice of drinks at the bar with Prosecco, cocktails, beer and non-alcoholic! Note: The terrace is covered.

For the first time, the Hiltl roof terrace has joined us on Rooftop Day! And their party, high above Bahnhofstrasse, has it all. You can dance until dawn to the live acts Kerala Dust, Blade&Beard and Midnight Jam Group, and djs: sentiment, Clive & Ismael, Les Yanniques, MF Jaeger & Deef serving a powerful portion of deep house, tech house and electronica. By the way: At 3 pm the EM Switzerland vs Albania game is shown and food will be served until 10 pm. CHF 15.- Note: Admission for over 21’s only

While the Lady's First Design Hotel is for both men and women, the spa is only for the ladies and so, with this spa themed rooftop, only ladies are allowed! There is yoga from Pop Up Yoga (1 pm – 2 pm & 4 pm to 5 pm) and manicures, pedicures and massages by Body Style MW. For yoga classes, registration is mandatory: [email protected] (CHF 10.-)

The Swiss-Canadian singer Fleur Magali will be playing an unforgettable acoustic concert in the open air and above Zurich's rooftops. Get your friends together and enjoy a warm summer night to Fleur’s own songs and covers - good whether you're a romantic or dancer (or both, if i know you). After the concert, they'll continue with house beats by Ben Ashton, the Basel dj who’s getting attention with his productions on the Berlin label bliss music.

From the heights of Hotel Ambassador à l'Opéra, 30 people can watch the Swiss/Albanian EM game, accompanied by bbq specialties from Albania and Switzerland, prepared by the chef from the Restaurant Opera, and includes your choice of drinks, with and without alcohol. Cost: CHF 37 .- / person.
 Before that there is, at 8 am to 9.30 am, a yoga lesson including refreshments, with Isabelle Behrens of the Yoga Garage (CHF 35.-). Please bring your own yoga mat and arrive at 7.45 am. Space is limited to 15 people.

Up to 20 people can watch all the EM games (Switzerland/Albania 3 pm, England/Russia 9 pm, Wales/Slovakia 6 pm) on this rooftop in Wiedikon.
