Zurich (EN) : Zurich 26.01.2023: Baguettes, The Museum & Steam

Good Morning Ronster

Hands up who has stuck to their new years resolution? I have and am feeling fitter, slimmer and better looking than ever. (which is difficult, i know.) I also know it’s been grey and bit miserable in the city this week but i have yet another Januarloch Calendar prize to give away as well as there being some really nice stuff happening in the city. Have a great week and…

Give my love to the city.

Januarloch Calendar: Sauna On The Lake

I love sitting outside in a hot tub and watching the snow fall from the sky. I thought nothing could top that. But then I heard about the sauna boat on Lake Zurich and ever since then I can't stop thinking about chugging across the lake with my best friend, inside and enjoying the sauna at the same time. And if you dare, you might even jump into the fresh lake water. Best of all, you don't even need a boat licence. And, with a little luck, you can win a voucher for a trip on the sauna boat worth CHF 450 today. Hit the buttons to win.

Eating: Banh Me Please

If you are fond of baguettes but find the traditional European fillings a bit dull, (ham and cheese. BORING!) then maybe the Bánh Mì 136 pop-up at Lang has just the thing for you. The «baguettes» are filled with delicious fillings including a favourite combination of mine, coriander and chilli. Grab a crispy pork belly roll, a spicy chicken one or, if you are currently doing the veganuary thing, take the Tofu baguette. There is one slight problem. The pop up ends on the 31st of January so you have just six short days!

Good to know: Make Being Green A Thing Of The Past

Let's make being green a thing of the past! I am of course talking about mountains in Winter. Green mountains in winter and record temperatures have been pretty disastrous for the lucrative Christmas period as far as snowboarding is concerned and as i was travelling to the Laax Open, (to watch by the way, not compete,) i found myself wondering about how much me, Ron Orp, is contributing by hitting the slopes. Mountain sports that involve fake snow and ski lift consume pretty vast amounts of water and energy, both precious commodities right now. So after a bout of panic and guilt i though i would share an article with you from 20min.ch, (the link is in German but it is available in English on the app,) which list 12 ways to be more sustainable and green, (i don’t think you can every be totally green,) as you enjoy your whichever winter sports you partake in.

p.s. I took the above picture myself.
