Zurich (EN) : Thursday 13.04.2023: Dragons, Mario & the Böögg

Good Morning Ronster

I hope you all enjoyed the long Easter weekend although getting back into life on Tuesday was a bit of a struggle. The good news is that we have another half day next Monday courtesy of the city guilds and the Böögg. If you are reading this and have no idea what I am talking about then scroll down to find out a little bit more about this tradition. Have a great weekend and…

Ron's Weekly Agenda

If you’ve been to the mountains recently, the conditions have been more akin to surfing than snowboarding/skiing so you’ll be ready for the Zurf Zurich Messe. It’s also a good weekend for live music. I’ve listed two here but check out my monthly gig list for the others. Oh yeah, there’s a few bargains available at Fritschiwiese this Sunday too.

Thursday: Japanese vibes at Bogen F
Thursday: Good at Mario Kart? Show the world at Sender
Saturday: One for Zurich’s surfing fans
Sunday: Dragons in finance
Sunday: Outdoor flea market at Bar Mau
Monday: A half day thanks to the Böögg
Wednesday: X-TRA Psych, X-TRA Turkish music

Concert: Japan comes to Bogen F

This week Bogen F welcomes Japanese singer/ writer Ichiko Aoba and her melodic, dreamy sound. Her music gives off a kind of warmth that is much needed in this cold start to the Spring we’re having. Opening for her is Swiss singer Melissa Kassab, who i was lucky enough to see perform at Bogen F last year. Don’t miss this duo!

Good to know: Why Do We Have A Half Day?

When is Spring here? Some say when the clocks change, others say the vernal equinox. But for the people of Zurich spring arrives when all the men don tights whilst detonating a hapless snowman. Strangely i know quite a few people who have not yet partaken in this singular tradition but if you are heading over there then here are some things that are good to know.

Shopping tip: Chilli Sauce Just To Your Taste

You all know that i love spicy food and for years i have been looking for the perfect sauce to accompany…well…everything. Fortunately a friend recommended a great website where you can design your own, bespoke chilli sauce. Select the chillis, decide whether you want a more European herb flavour or more exotic flavours with lemongrass and ginger. Once you have worked out what you need, Mexican Tears will prepare your sauce and send it out to you. I can’t wait to get mine.
