Good news and bad news! The good news is my birthday party is looming so if you haven’t saved the date put a big circle or a heart over Saturday the 29th of April. Speaking of which, i caught up with artist Hannah Gottschalk this week. She’s going to be providing the visuals for my party so i decided to find out a little more about her. Give my love to the city

My stomach is growling just looking at the various gastro options i have for you this week. Whether you’re in the mood for elegant seafood or spicy Thai, i’ve got you covered. If you’re looking for some music, there’s an eclectic mix coming up, from techno to modern rock/jazz, not to mention a film festival and flea market at the lake.

This Tuesday sees the start of the Pink Apple film festival, Zurich’s premier festival for queer cinema. Their program starts on Thursday night at Arthouse Le Paris and continues at Arthouse Movie and Filmpodium right the way through to the 4th of May with a showing of Lisa Cortés’ documentary, «Little Richard: I Am Everything». As well as the movies there are also panel discussions, performances and drinks at Kulturhaus Helferie as well as their Pink Apple Party at Heaven.

Do you ever think about how music looks? What colour a note is or what shape a beat has? Artist Hannah Gottschalk does just that, making sounds into visuals and i am super happy that she will be providing the visual highlights at my birthday party on the 29th of April. But her talents don’t stop at creating images for music. She is also a talented photographer and is at home in various other visual arts. I asked her if you have to be musical to make good visuals and which venues she would love to play in.

I think we can all admit that the start to Spring has been rough this year. With all this cold, rainy weather, i find myself daydreaming of warm, distant lands. If you need a break from this weather too, then Bar Butter might be for you. The Thai pop-up 555 has opened its doors to Zurich, offering authentic dishes such as their fish curry with rice noodles or deep fried chicken… i’m drooling already.
