Zurich (EN) : Zurich 06.07.2023: Mediterrean, Fäscht & Fleas

Good Morning Ronster

I have some good news for lovers of romantic trysts over a glass of wine. This week sees the start of «Mediterranean nights» which means you’ll be able to enjoy your favourite beer garden/terrace until 2 in the am.

And of course we have Züri Fäscht, the giant party that is straddling the city like a beer fuelled colossus. Obviously it is dominating affairs but i do have some alternatives if you find the crowds and noise a bit too much. Have a great weekend and…

Party: Fäscht times in Züri

Well, it’s that time again. Once every three years, for 3 days, the city of Zurich goes absolutely bonkers. It is the festival of festivals. It’s… Züri Fäscht. 150 food and drink stands, 70 different rides and attractions, 300 market stalls and 50 stages for music. There’s fireworks and drone shows. It’s a city wide party with a full schedule for the whole family. Even public transportation is on board (pun intended), with a special schedule to get you where you need to go. And the motto for this year? It’s all about sustainability, being respectful towards the environment and keeping an eye out for Mother Nature. Reduce, reuse, recycle.

Of course i’m aware that some of you may not relish the thought of sharing the city with over 2 million people, so this may be a good head’s up to head away from the city centre. If this is your first year in Zurich, it can be a bit overwhelming. You can take this time to find some remote swimming locations and take advantage of them being relatively empty. However, you’re going to want to go far enough away. This
article may help you to find a spot. And trust me, there’s a very good reason you’ll want to be far enough away.

So whether you stay home, go to the outskirts, or go into the heart of the city, i hope you have fun and stay hydrated and safe (i can see the eyerolls).

I always scroll through the images and imagine which ones would best fit my living room, or bedroom, or kitchen, or… well you get the idea. Of course, with the wonderful, colourful and dense pictures by Deborah Senn and Samira Margni, i was spoilt for choice. I chatted to them to find out what they love to draw at the moment and the themes that are close to their hearts. Click the buttons to find out more.
