Zurich (EN) : Zurich 14.09.2023: Supermarket, Soil & Staples

Good Morning Ronster

So...another Knabbenschiessen has come and gone and we now have a new winner but, let's face it, you didn't see anything beyond the «Chilbi» did you? No, me neither. As the weather cools down restaurants seem to be springing up like mushrooms: scroll down to check out another new place to eat. And speaking of mushrooms, i have my guide to picking them yourself. Whatever you get up to this weekend, have a great time and...

Give my love to the city

Eating: Hikari Opens Its Doors

Another week, another new restaurant. It really is fantastic to have so many new restaurants to sample. This week's offering is the new vegan/vegetarian ramen place, Hikari which is located in between Bahnhof Wiedikon and Schmiede Wiedikon. The menu features Japanese classics such as gyoza, soba and of course, ramen and is part of the chain of restaurants that include Ikoo, Miki and Mori. I’m looking forward to paying them a visit. Itadakimasu. いただきます

Reading: English Book Club

Do you like reading books? Do you like reading books and then talking about that book with other people who love books? If you answered yes, and have been looking for an English book club, look no further. The independent shop Pile of Books , located in Wiedikon is offering not one, but two book clubs! For all you fiction lovers they will take place on the last Saturday of every month at 4:30 pm with the first meeting on the 30th. For the non-fiction readers, they will be the first Thursday of every month at 6:30pm starting October 5th.

Pick one or do both! You can never read enough. Snacks and drinks will be provided. All you need to do is pick up your copy at the store and show up to the meeting! (And read the book… but you probably figured that one out.)

Ron's Mushroom Guide

Yay! Mushroom season is upon us and it's a great hobby to discover (or return to) for the fall season. You can wander through the forest, picking all different types of safe, edible mushrooms at your leisure. Like you're in your very own fairytale! I've put together a guide with some tips and tricks on foraging and how to easily recognize edible mushrooms. Happy foraging!
