Yes, the Christmas holdidays are upon us and i would just like to wish you all a very merry Christmas...or happy holidays if you are not into the whole Christmas thing. There's some lovely stuff going on in town so enjoy the long weekend, safe travels if you are heading away and if you are staying put...

Zurich does Christmas well, what with the markets, the mulled wine and very occasionally, the snow. This Thursday a very nice event takes place on the Limmat and although it has only been around since the 1960’s it’s a lovely thing to see. The «Lichterschwimmen» involves the rather simple concept of floating candles along the Limmat creating a sea of magical bobbing lights. And with a glühwein in one hand and your other arm around a loved one it’s a beautiful romantic evening.

If you are looking for anything to do on Christmas night, or need to simply release some energy after all that family time, the Hive is hosting a 26 hour non-stop party (depending on how much energy you need to release). Going from Monday- Tuesday, you can dance and be merry to various DJs and musical acts. so grab your friends, or some strangers, and get into the holiday spirit! Or just dance. Whatever gets you through to the new year.

Whether you're having a big Christmas party or a small get together with some close friends, sometimes it's nice to act fancy and sophisticated (emphasis on act). If you're like me, you tend to buy beer and wine and call it a day. Which is totally fine! But if you wanna spruce it up a bit (see what i did there), i've put together a list of holiday cocktails. The developments over the past few months in Israel and Gaza have left me feeling more than a little helpless and sad. Whilst we wrap presents and sip drinks people in that part of the world are facing a very insecure future. Christmas is not just about consumerism so if you would like to help in some small way i have compiled a list of aid organisations that are working in Gaza at present.
