Zurich (EN) : Zurich 04.1.2024: Electro, Explicit & Ice

Happy New Year Ronster

Well, here it is. The very first newsletter of 2024. And no, we aren't in some futuristic movie. It really is 2024. I hope you all had a restful break, wherever you chose to spend the holidays. As we all get used to once again knowing what day of the week it is, i hope you can ease back into the work week smoothly. In German, you say «Guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr» which translates, roughly, into have a good slide into the new year. So i hope it was an easy, smooth slide. Not one of those twisty turny ones that spit you out mercilessly at the end.

Anyways, don't forget to write '24 as the date on everything and as always,

Give my love to the city

So, how do you want to spend the first week of this new year? Maybe you're still recuperating from the holidays, or maybe you're ready to get back out there. I've got a couple of gigs, a fondue pop up, some parties and, if you're up for it, ice skating. Oh, and a couple of fun tips as well. Have a good week!

Thursday: A couple of odd bands
Saturday: Electro swing partay at Alte Kaserne
Saturday: Explicit party at Kauz
Sunday: FREE! Ice skating in Oerlikon
Monday: Fondue will never die

Worth Reading: The anti-New Year's Resolution

We've all been there before. Everyday year on January 1st, we wake up resolving to be a better, more productive, fitter and healthier version of our past selves. Our google searches are full of gyms near me, diet plans, walking apps, lists of vitamins and what have you. And while it's all well and good to want to be healthier, sometimes we put too much on ourselves, don't we? And when we, inevitably, don't live up to those self imposed expectations, we feel like we failed.

So what if we tried something different? While the article is from last year, Harper Bazaar still has an interesting take on these resolutions. (There's also a link to an article supporting goblin mode, and if you don't know what that is already, i highly recommend it).

So, Happy Realistic New Year everyone.

Comic in January: Miriam Wurster

A new year, new month and of course, a new comic! In January, Miriam Wurster's cartoons will decorate my newsletter. I did an interview with her, of course, and in it she tells me what's most challenging in her life at the moment, and what she thinks of some of the critique she has received about her artwork.

Eating: Some tips for Veganuary

I'm sure most of you have heard of the term Veganuary, and if you haven't it's pretty self explanatory. For the entire month of January, you eat only (or mainly) vegan products. Sounds hard, i know. If you're not a full time vegan, this can seem daunting and half way through the month you're questioning your life choices and the friends you made this pact with.

But whether you're doing it for health or environmental reasons, a lot of people say they actually enjoy it. So if this is your first time, i've found a few tips and tricks to make it easier.
