The other day i went for a bike ride and the person i rode with paid a compliment to almost everyone we passed. «Nice jacket» or «cool hair» or «you can do it!» to the girl that was trying the hoverboard for the first time. Plenty going on this week. The culmination of the UCI races is taking place and Zurich’s architectural masterpieces, (or flops, depending on your point of view,) open their doors and give you a sneaky peek. Oh, and don’t forget! The Zurich Film Festival begins in a few weeks and they are starting to release tickets.

There’s so many buildings in Zurich that i would love to get a peek inside and there is some really amazing architecture, be it Zurich’s charming old buildings, it’s brutalist recent past or stadia. This weekend we get a chance with Openhouse Zuerich which will be running on Saturday & Sunday. And with 158 locations all over the Zurich metropolitan area there is sure to be something interesting as well as close by.

As you head to the nightclub or a bar and enjoy the Zurich nightlife it’s very easy to forget about the poor souls out in the world, fleeing destruction and taking ever more dangerous routes to reach the sanctuary that Europe offers. I’m more of a night owl. And that works out well for me in Zurich as you are way more likely to find me stalking the streets at 6am after a concert or party than getting up going for an early morning jog. The only downside for me is that shops tend to close a bit too early for my liking. Thankfully, there are also places where you can get food late into the night or even around the clock. I’m not just talking about takeaways, but also proper restaurants. I asked around in my community and now I know where you can still grab a bite late at night. I’ll keep updating this list. It starts with a spot in District 9 that you might not know yet.
