I hope you Ronsters are all enjoying the holiday season. This year, the stars have aligned in just the right way so that the next two Thursdays fall on public holidays, and you know what that means – that’s right – no weekly dose of Ron. This will be my last newsletter of 2024, but don’t worry – i’ll be back in 2025, refreshed and ready to go again.

As I’ll be away, i’ve included a few tips for the coming days, including some suggestions for New Year’s. Have a very merry Christmas or, if you’re not into Christmas, have a wonderful holiday season and a fantastic New Year’s celebration.

New Years Eve: 2025 is here! Who’s in?

If you went to England on Christmas day you would be forgiven for thinking there had been some sort of apocalypse. Dead streets, no people and forget about a club or even a pub. Fortunately it’s not like that here so i’m going to let you know who is open on the 24th, 25th and 26th.

Christmas Eve: It’s a bit quiet but it’s not dead. Both Hive and Frieda’s Büxe are open for you from 11pm.

Christmas Day: A fairly good program actually. Hive and Frieda’s remain open but they are now joined by Mascotte and Plaza who are hosting their queer family Christmas party.

26th December: The Grotto Bar is also throwing a party with Karaoke and Kauz joins, Hive, Frieda’s, Mascotte and Plaza in opening it’s doors.

Do you ever feel that the Christmas spirit has been hijacked by an orgy of consumerism? I’m fairly certain that Jesus, or the fellas who penned the Bible, didn’t have the spend-a-thon that is Bahnhofstrasse in mind—nor did any other religious or social leader, for that matter. For me, the holiday season (and I use this term because not everyone celebrates Christmas) is about giving and helping others. With that in mind, I’ve found three social projects on the Crowdify platform that you might consider supporting, even if it’s just a small contribution.
