Lights, camera, raffle!
I have two pairs of tickets to give away for a selection of movies from The Zurich Film Festival. My pick is The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus – I love the wildly dark imagination of director Terry Gilliam, and it will be interesting to see what he does with an ensemble cast that includes Johnny Depp, Tom Waits, and Heath Ledger in his final performance.

Itching to rock
Swedish rock band The Hives plays Alte Börse on Thursday night. Known for performing in stylized black and white suits, these guys put garage punk on the fashion radar.

Club-hop your way through the wee hours, starting with country band High Noon at My Place, then moving on to Rizzoknorr at Stall 6, and finishing off with P.O.N.Y. at Cabaret Club.

All the world’s a stage
Get the inside on scoop on life backstage at Schiffbau: 30 actors in 30 boxes present the unique piece “Personal Installation,” a two-hour event during which you can learn about all aspects of this dynamic theatre company. Afterwards, take in the smooth sounds of the Moods Jazz Lounge, which showcases the best jazz in Zurich.

A fairy tale evening
Artist in Wonderland launches its “Magic Fashion and Design” event this Saturday at Restaurant Schoffel. Showcasing fine fashions from B-collection, La Michèle, and others, the evening will also feature performances by magician Gabriel Palacios, DJ Garçon-Sauvage, and fashion drag queen Thraxx Wiz. I have two pairs of tickets to give away to this enchanting (pardon the pun) event.

Hello, Au Revoir
Brooklyn-based Indie pop electric trio Au Revoir Simone brings their vintage keyboards and earnest lyrics to Stall 6 with DJs Rumory and Robby Naish. The show starts right on time, so don’t be late!

Did you know that Zurich street numbers always (or almost always) begin at the end of the street closest to Bellevue? If you still need help finding that latest hole-in-the-wall club or art gallery, you’ll find it with online web tools Map.Search.ch and Tel.Search.ch. MapSearch has traffic, gastronomy, entertainment, and shopping information built right into a searchable aerial map of Switzerland, and its sister site has 41 million entries in its online phone book.  If you’re already a way-finding expert, consider exploring the spookier side of the city streets with The Ghost Walk of Zurich. At 8pm every Thursday and Friday, this 75-minute English tour leaves Paradeplatz. There’s no need to book in advance – just turn up on the day, ready to suspend your disbelief. The tour costs 15CHF for adults and 10CHF for children. But remember, the Ghost Walk is not responsible for any hauntings, chain rattling, or poltergeist activity experienced by customers after participating in the walk.

Shift Happens
Once a year, Karl Fisch of XPLANE  releases a “Did You Know/Shift Happens” video – this year’s Did You Know 4.0, which will be presented at The Economist Magazine’s third annual Media Convergence Forum in New York City, explores the changing media landscape and its impact on the technological world.

Sure the cold weather may just be around the corner, but that just means all the more reason to explore the latest fall fashions. A couple of stores are on my radar these days: Glam, the self-proclaimed boudoir of all shoes chic and unique, The Gloss, a fashion find in the heart of urban cool Kreis 5, and Dings, the streetwear style store for clothes, shoes, and accessories.
