Every year, 12 boats are moored on Lake Zurich at Bürkliplatz at Expovina with thousands of bottles of wine on board. This lip-smacking wine tasting event offers over 4,000 varieties from 22 countries to choose from. Moving between the boats may require some concentration on your part. From Monday to Friday it’s free until 1 pm.

After 4 years of bringing English-language laughs to Switzerland at his regular shows, Guy Stevens presents a special comedy & music line-up for Anglophones and locals. Zurich's Big Night Out, at the Volkshaus, has an after-party dj'd by infamous Ibiza legend Brandon Block - his 1st time in Switzerland for 15 years. Rib-tickling laughs come from Ardal O'Hanlon (star of British TV's "Father Ted" and "My Hero"), Nina Conti and Tom Rhodes. Rio is a new small bar which opened this summer. They’re hosting a ‘micro’ disco on the last Friday of every month, starting this Friday with djs 100S, YST & Vineil. In order to fit everyone in, you have to make yourself as small as possible. There’s no ‘door policy’ simply because a cashier’s table would waste valuable space!

This Saturday, Razzia hosts Bloody Stripes, displaying a different kind of fashion photography. Pin-ups are the main theme in this exhibition, which is apt, considering the history of the venue - Razzia used to be a porn cinema. The exhibition starts with a show by artistinwonderland and is followed by a modelling performance. The after-party closes the night, with djs Prince Vega (indie, dance) and Mikki Leela (disco house).

Now Country For All Men is a popular event where Beda Senn, alias DJ Manbat, plays at the Bonneville-Bar (Hohlstrasse 48). His set dates have changed from every 2nd Monday of the month, to the 1st Mon instead. His collection includes rock, pop and new country. The near-namesake film No Country for Old Men by the Coen brothers doesn't have a soundtrack but Senn makes up for it.

Filmpodium shows two classics this week: On Tuesday, Bonnie and Clyde by Arthur Penn (1967) and, on Wednesday, Barry Lyndon by Stanley Kubrick (1975). Barry Lyndon is part of the Filmpodium’s series of 25 greatest hits, where nearly 2,000 film lovers voted for their favourite classic.

Halloween and Day of the Dead are taking place this Saturday. Both traditions are not really rooted here in Switzerland but there are a few parties taking place in the spirit of them. La Catrina, which calls itself the only real Mexican bar in Zurich, doesn’t miss a trick and hosts parties on Friday and Saturday. Exil, one of the latest additions to the club scene in Zurich, throws a Halloween ball with three bands: The Monsters from Berne, Movie Star Junkies from Italy and djs Madame Minouche & Kizmiaz from Bienne. And Lotus has a gay Halloween party with djs Thomi B. Electrostatic and Fred Extasia on the programme.
