Every time I passed by the “under construction” building on the Langstrasse, I caught myself wondering what it would become. A bar? A restaurant? A club? Nope: on Thursday you are invited to the opening of a new glasses shop by Mykita from Berlin, the company of former ic! designer Philipp Haffmans. All this accompanied by jazz sounds: our friend Reto Bühler (Kaufleuten’s culture chef) returns à la console to help you forget the icy weather that’s fogging up your lenses.

Once a month at Moods, several djs play the best of my favourite music styles: rhythm & blues, early soul & reggae, jazz and deep funk. The organizers seem like fun guys, and although I haven’t been for a while, I think I might show up to check out this week’s, ahem, mood.

Once again I’m telling you about a party at St. Pauli. And no, they don’t  pay me to write about them. This time it’s a Rocka Rolla event with the guys from Cloris djing, Vangelini, the djs from the groovy stolze openair and last but not least Jiggy Pop & Big Boy Broadway.

What would Zurich’s nightlife be without Hive? The duo Moonbootica plays on Saturday, combining techno, electro, house and break music with a bit of hip hop. Nader spins upstairs.

Rohstofflager proves to be resistant to change, at least when it comes to relocating. The club still resides at Duttweilerstrasse, despite the surrounding construction. This Saturday, the club celebrates its 13th anniversary. Happy birthday! Who could be more ideal than Jeff Miles from Detroit to dj such an event? Well, that’s what Rohstofflager thought, too.

Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst presents the exhibition While Bodies Get Mirrored. Various artists explore the relationship between movement and space in their sculptures, photos and videos. If you prefer to move yourself instead, head to Helsinki Club where Trio from Hell is back.

True Romance was Quentin Tarantino’s first major motion picture screenplay. He had hoped to direct the film himself but ended up selling the script. This Tuesday, Filmstelle screens this cult classic in which Clarence (Christian Slater) falls in love with call girl Alabama (Patricia Arquette). The two get married, Clarence shoots her pimp and they end up with a suitcase full of cocaine... If the film starts with a murderous chair chasing a secretary, don't worry: that’s the pre-film, a 5-minute short by Swiss Marcel Langenegger.
