Hi Gast,
you have:
Disco dancing

Saalschutz call themselves the Defenders of Disco Dancin’, and I’d be happy to stand by their side in that fight. Their style juts between punk-rock and trance, generously flavoured with analog break-beat elements. Their lyrics are poetic, funny and occaisionally intelligent.  Followed-up by a dj 3-way with the infamous Sabatage dj’s Mailk, Rumory and MT Dancefloor bringing their brand of sexy electro and dirty disco to the masses at Exil this Thursday.
Thursday 9 pm, Exil

Bike and boogie

If you use your bike like me, then you see it as your passport to the freedom of the city - to go anywhere at anytime. Although getting it into a club has always been a little tricky, until now! The VeloParty at Supermarket will give you free entry if you bring your beast along. Once parked in the secure area, you can enjoy the openair grill and lounge, as well as the bike and streetwear market. Music is supplied by Aulay Fu, dj Pazkal, Jann Bronski and Zebo Punkt. Road warriors of the world unite!
Friday 6 pm, Supermarket

Lakeside lounging

If you want a break from the city for a while, then grab a short train ride out to Wädenswil, for the Arx-en-ciel festival this weekend. Acts like Kutti MC with the One Shot Orchestra, 7 Dollar Taxi and 77 Bombay Street will be there. I’m also looking forward to The Young Gods, exchanging their drum machines and samplers for a just-right-for-summer acoustic set. And just in case you don’t want to miss the World Cup final, they will be showing it on their big screens. This open-air stands out not only for the line up, but also for the beautiful location right on the lake.
And I have 3x2 2-day passes for you to win. Email me.
Friday, Saturday & Sunday, Seeplatz Wädenswil

Treasure hunt

For all you treasure hunters, explorers and magpies a new second-hand market in Zurich will have it’s debut this Saturday. FritschiFlohmi at Fritschiwiese is the perfect setting for second hand goods of all kinds. Right in the heart of multicultural Kreis 3 secondhand clothes, flowers pots, deer antlers, costume jewelry, comic collections, transistor radios, cuckoo clocks and all sorts of goodies can be browsed and haggled over. FritschiFlohmi will run every Saturday throughout the summer. Also, Bogen 33 are having a Garage Sale this Saturday with grill and music to keep you entertained as you discover that long lost treasure you know you can’t live without.
I’ve also mentioned a few of the older markets you can find around Zurich below. Happy hunting!
Saturday 10 am, FritschiFlohmi
Saturday 11 am, Bogen33

Next!

Twelve djs, one party. One dj plays a track when it’s coming to an end, a random generator selects the next dj. Guest can observe this procedure on screen. This is Amboss Rampe's version of Chatroulette without the x-rated accidents. If you don’t like a song, you can stop the dj by jeering.
Saturday 11 pm, Amboss Rampe

Freak folk

Devendra Banhart, who wandered homeless as an artist through the US a few years back, has become an icon of freak folk music. Born in Texas, he’s travelling through Europe at present and stops as Kaufleuten this Tuesday. It’s his only concert in Switzerland. Easy listening – the perfect summer sound.
Tuesday 8 pm, Kaufleuten

The big finale

I watched Uruguay vs The Netherlands at Kulturmarkt (aka Zwinglihaus) and I have to say – I like: Large screen, nice crowd, good beer and a bit of space. So I’m probably going to watch the finale there as well. Even if you already have plans, it’s worth to stop there this week to view the exhibition of Football Heroes Gold. If you don’t have time, check out the book with the greatest World Cup tournament moments from 1930 to 2010.
Sunday 8.30 pm, Kulturmarkt

Good to know

Fresh veggies? Old LPs? Jewellery? No matter what you're looking for, you'll find it at one of Zurich's markets. Flea markets: The city's classic flea markets is probably the Kanzleimarkt where - amidst an air of chaos and mothballs - a diverse range of people sell a variety of goods. A similar market is at Bürkliplatz. And I also heard rumours that there is a once-off clothes market taking place in the green of St Jakobs Church (Stauffacher) this Saturday. For jewellery head over to Rosenhof where the atmosphere is a touch more professional. Flea markets traditionally take place on Saturdays. Vegetable and flower markets: I've always received the best cooking tips from those who sell their own vegetables. My favourites are the one in Oerlikon for vegetables - yes, it's not that central but really nice! - and the one at Bürkliplatz for flowers. Except on Mondays and Thursdays there is always at least one market setting up its stalls somewhere in the city..

Your secret

I've come across a wonderful video: Your Secret. It's food for thought and at the same time very inspiring. Treat yourself to 4 minutes away from the daily grind and follow the instructions.

Shining as romantic comedy

It's amazing what a few cuts can do to a movie trailer. Shining as romantic comedy, Mrs Doubtfire as horror movie or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as a drug-trafficking thriller - watch the trailers here.
