My friends have been reminding me all week that Saturday is Independence Day so i’d like to wish everyone from across the pond a great day of celebration.

News on the Covid front has been slightly worrying especially after the Flamingo Club event. Unfortunately, as of Monday, masks will be obligatory on all public transport in Switzerland so head down to the supermarket and grab a pack before Monday. It seems the the Rote Fabrik in Wollishofen is the place to be at the moment. On Thursday Film am See begins with openair screenings right by the lake throughout the summer. But that’s not all. Audiovirale Sommernacht are presenting 6 electronic musicians on the very same night. And if electronica and film are not your thing then there is the Flohmi am Wasser as well. Phew…

As i mentioned last week many of Zurich’s clubs have reopened and this week Zukunft, Gonzo and Exil are throwing open their doors to welcome you lovely Ronsters. If we want them to stay open though, please take the contact tracing seriously. No one wants another lockdown…certainly not the clubs that we all love.

Run out of beer? Never fear because Amboss Rampe are having their Rampenverkauf this Saturday and in true Amboss Rampe style they are turning it into a party with DJ’s and everything. As well as selling Amboss beer you can also try a drink or two in the bar and grab the last few bottles of The Boss Gin.

So had a good night on Saturday? Why not work off Saturday nights hangover by making a new one? The Ziegelhütte are holding their wine festival, (called Le Grande Bouffe,) and if you haven’t visited this peaceful corner of Zurich this gives you a perfect excuse.

I know that some of you Ronsters love to take a picture or two. I’m a terrible photographer so when i heard Wiemann Mediendesign are doing a two hour photography course for beginners i thought, «I’m in!» And the best thing? It’s free, free, free.

If you are not an amazing reader of German you may, (or may not be,) aware of the new contact tracing app that is available for smart phones in Switzerland. Privacy is a big thing in Switzerland so your details are not retained and the app will be a big help in suppressing outbreaks of Covid-19 without having to resort to nationwide lockdowns.

Download it for apple devices here and for android devices here although you do have to have your phone set to the region Switzerland for it to work. If you can’t or won’t use the app please leave correct details for contact tracing 'cause i don’t think i can bear another lockdown. Stay healthy.

Last week i wrote about a favourite bar tour along the Schanzengraben. This week i have another few waterside watering holes to share with you. What makes this particular bar tour unique is that, (at least for the first few locations,) you can use the fast flowing waters of the Limmat to propel you to the next bar.
