Happy Thursday Ronster

On Thursday last week the Swiss government announced its plans to reduce the restrictions due to corona virus. Too soon, too optimistic or not fast enough? Who can say? All i know is that next week i will finally be rid of the terrible hair style i am currently sporting. (see picture)

I am sure that you, like me, are desperate to get out, have a few drinks and generally enjoy the city again but please bear in mind that measures are still in place and a surge in covid cases is likley to mean more lockdowns. When the cases reach zero we can all get together and celebrate but in the meantime, keep distance, stay home, keep washing your hands and...

Give my love to the city.

Audiolicious: Check In & Check It Out

Once again, if you are looking for a different source of music than just listening to online playlists Zurich’s DJ community are here to help. On Thursday at 6pm The Hotel Bar in Feldstrasse presents their «Big Love Livestream.» The DJ is, i think rather appropriately, called Big Love.

Shopping tip: Christmas Coming Early?

Okay, it’s not Christmas yet but why not get the presents in early? Everyone loves socks and with betterstayhome.ch, not only are you delighting friends and relatives with warm feet but you are supporting local business and socking (forgive me,) it to coronavirus through Ärzte Ohne Grenzen. (that’s doctors without borders for those not familiar with German.)

Web tip: Museum Piece

Did you know that the building that hosts the Rundfunk and Illuminarium also doubles as a museum? Crazy but true. Any hoo, as the Landesmuseum can’t let anyone in at the moment they are offering a virtual tour of the museum for those that need their dose of history.

Don’t forget that in the online world you are not restricted to museums in Switzerland. Here’s a link to a list of cool online museum tours beyond the borders.

Good to know: Fresh Is Best

Fresh fruit and vegetables. You can’t beat them and if you can get them from local suppliers it is better for the environment and the local economy. Slowfoodyouth.ch have published a list of local suppliers who can provide fresh, homemade and organic products. Now, the website is in German but if you hit this link it takes you directly to the list of producers.

Causes: Foreign Future Feminist Forum

The policy on the Coronavirus crisis has been largely shaped by old men. And let’s be honest, some of them (no names mentioned,) have made a bit of a pigs ear of it. Foraus Zurich are inviting people to take part in an online discussion on what a feminist foreign policy would look like. If you have some great ideas, especially in the current climate then this is a great opputunity to share them.

Where There's Life There's Hops.

I've been waiting patiently, checking on my fermentation flask every day like an expectant hen checking her eggs. But now my Orp Pale Ale is ready to escape the confines of the fermentation flask and become free...in bottles. Although getting beer into bottles might not sound that tricky it was surprisingly hard. Not least becuase i wanted to drink the beer. Anyways, here's how i did it...
