“May you live in interesting times.”

This is the translation of an ancient Chinese curse and, unless you lived in a war zone, i can’t remember times as interesting as these. Hopefully in a year or two we will all be able to sit round with a glass of wine or a beer and say, “Rememer the Corona virus outbreak?” and laugh about the toilet paper shortages but at present, this is a very real crisis both in human and economic terms.

I urge all of you Ronsters to take this seriously because the sooner we control this virus, the sooner life will return to normal. Please try to stay home as much as possible and do not use the shut down of school, shops and places of work as an excuse to invite you friends round for a party.

If you need to go out, please give people space and practice social distancing.

Over the next few weeks i am going to be trying to share things to do online, radio shows, and suggestions on how to still have a social life albeit an online one. And if you lovely Ronsters have any suggestions, or things that you would love to share, please drop me an e-mail and i may share them in the following newsletter.

At this time it is vital that you keep yourself informed of developments, especially if there are large changes in government policy regarding quarantine and lockdown. Whilst i love social media, please don’t use it as your source of knowledge as much of what is there is either out of date, out of context or just gibbering nonsense. Your first point of call should be the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health. If you follow this link you will hit their Coronavirus page which is clear, informative, accurate but most importantly, in four languages including English.

Another excellent source of news in Switzerland is the excellent swissinfo.ch. Now if you are aware of this site please excuse me…there may be some very new Ronsters out there who still don’t know about it. They have been doing some very detailed coverage and accurately predicted the current situation days before. A very useful place to keep an eye on. Also keep an eye on the SwissAlert twitter feed which i wrote about here.

So Coronavirus has put the kibosh on parties? Wrong! You can still dance, you just have to stay home and do it. Fortunately DJ collective Ozelot have taken the party online and are streaming DJ sets direct to your front room, kitchen or...well...wherever.
