Exhibition: He's Missing An Ear But....He's Alive

In between chugging absinth and chopping parts of his own body off, Van Gogh was quite handy with a paint brush. Starting this week at MAAG, Van Gogh Alive will give you a chance to experience a multi sensory exhibition of his works, allowing you to feel as if you are in the pictures. Unfortunately you can’t sit on his chair…

Concert: Tenacious Papa Gallagher

I keep saying this…Zurich is a great town for live music. This Thursday there are three great shows to check out. Unfortunately two of them take place at the same time you are going to have a tough choice to make…

First up, comedy rock duo «Tenacious D» are playing at the Samsung hall. Featuring School of Rock star Jack Black it’s sure to be a great gig.

Thursday 6:30pm, Samsung Hall, Hoffnigstrasse 1, 8600

Taking time out from his busy schedule of bickering with his brother, «enfant terrible» and one time Oasis singer Liam Gallagher is playing at the Halle 622. Expect fiery behaviour and swearing…

Thursday 8pm, Halle 622, Therese-Giehse-Strasse 10, 8050

Finally Californian rap metal band Papa Roach are playing at Halle 662 the following night but as tickets are selling fast it might be an idea to get your tickets quickly.

Friday 8pm, Halle 622, Therese-Giehse-Strasse 10, 8050

Party: Where's Winter?

Who needs an excuse for a party? Not me and not the people down at Park Platz down by the Limmat. They’re throwing a bash on Saturday called «Ändlich Winter!» which basically means finally Winter. Music, drinks and other activities are all on offer. It would be great if Winter could actually turn up too.

Comedy: Belhousse Of The Ball

It’s funny, A.S.S. shows are like buses. You don’t see one for ages then two turn up at the same time. This Sunday the American Stand Up Show are at Stall 6 and are featuring French comic, Yacine Belhousse who has been tearing it up at the Edinburgh Fringe and supporting Eddie Izzard on his French tour.

Film: Film (That's German For Film)

As you may (or may not,) know the Swiss authorities are tightening up the rules on language skills so getting some German chops together ought to be a priority. And what better way than watching some German films with some like minded people. On Wednesday Talk Deutsch are showing a film to help you get your German skills together which also includes a welcome drink and snacks. Viel Spass Ronsters.

Concert: Shhh...It's a Secret

In an act of shameless self-promotion i am including my very own Ron Voyage evening in the newsletter this week. Once again i’m featuring some exciting new acts in a top secret location in the city. Sorry, i can’t tell you any more than this but it’s going to be great (as always.)

Eating: Mountains Of Burgers

One of the items on my bucket list that is not yet fulfilled is that i would love to visit the Himalayas and experience the wonders of Tibet and Nepal. But it’s a long journey so when i heard that a new Tibetan burger restaurant had opened i figured i could get a taste of the Himalayas without a twelve hour flight.
