Zurich (EN) : Zurich 16.01.2020: Metal, Plaid & Rainbows

Good Morning Ronster

Pedalling until you’re drenched in sweat is soooo last decade. In the roaring 20’s, roaring will give way to the whisper of electric motors. Today, i am giving away a City 25 E-Bike from EGO Movement worth CHF 2,298.

Vreni, as the model is affectionately known has a 250W motor, glides along at 25km/h and has a range of 130km allowing you the freedom and luxury to enjoy longer bike tours. Muscles wasting away? Then write me an e-mail now and with a little luck, win the bike of the future.

Give my love to the city.

Concert: Metal...Meh?

If you are one of those Ronsters who are into the rockier side of music then don your blackest clothes as Dynamo are hosting the Meh Suff winter festival. Mosh your way through a line up of five international acts on Friday and five more on Saturday. This is followed up with a 90’s party which will continue until the trams start up again next morning.

Friday - Saturday, Dynamo, Wasserkstrasse 21, 8006

Party: Future Is Plaid Out

If moshing and wearing black is not your thing then Spezialmaterial Records are providing a very good alternative. This weekend Zurich club institution, Zukunft is the venue for the Spezialmaterial Weekender which will host several acts including UK IDM artists Plaid. Be prepared for a very long weekend.

Friday & Saturday 11:59pm, Zukunft, Dienerstrasse 33, 8004

Good to know: Gold At The End Of The Rainbow

There are interesting times ahead in Switzerland for the LGBTQ community as the country gears up for a referendum on the 9th of February which will (hopefully,) tighten up the laws against discrimination and hate crimes. What better way to show your support than joining the Rainbow-Ride on Saturday where people who are opposed to hate and discrimination can show solidarity. Don’t forget your bike.

Causes: Mantras For Oz

As we all know, the people and wildlife of Australia are having a torrid time this summer with wildfires raging across the country. On Sunday, Yogaholics United are going to chant 108 rounds of the Gayatri Mantra in solidarity and will make a collection with 100% of the money going to help the people there.

Game: Return To Sender

Table soccer, Fussball…it goes by many names and whatever you call it, i’m rubbish at it. But i still love to take part and once i have been thrashed 6-0, love to watch people, who are actually good, play. Radio station/Bar GDS Sender are presenting their GDS-Töggeliturnier (Töggeli being the Swiss word (in Zurich) for table soccer.) A good excuse for a few beers…

Film: Little Women, Big Stars

Alternatively a good film might suit. Kosmos are showing the pre-premier of Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s book, Little Women. This promises to be a very good adaptation with a stellar cast that includes Saiorse Ronan, Meryl Streep, Laura Dern, Bob Odenkirk & Emma Watson.

Eating: Banana's For Chanas

Anyone who knows me knows exactly how much i love Indian cuisine. To the point where i would happily have curry for breakfast. So when i heard that Spice Village, a new Indian & Pakistani restaurant had opened near to the Langstrasse i thought to myself, i must pay them a visit.

Worth watching: Deep...Really Deep

Sometimes i find things online that i find both relaxing and fascinating and so i thought i would share this one with you. Neal Agarwal’s website Neal.fun takes you on an amazing trip to the depths of the ocean. If you have five minutes click the link or hit the buttons and head down into the inky depths.
