It seems like every weekend a different club celebrates it’s birthday but this weekend should be a real hoot as the club Kauz, (look up the translation to get the joke,) celebrates it’s 6th birthday. As you would expect, there is a great line up of DJ’s with spectacular names. My favourites are «Drugface aka Thomas Von Party,» and the simply titled, «Knob.»

«The Vessel Party Vol III.» What Vessel refers to is not clear. Maybe a ship? More likely a receptacle for booze. But whatever it is, the Vessel team are throwing a party this Saturday with a great line up of local DJ’s, hosted in the alternative yet charming surroundings of the Photobastei. From 7pm you can have dinner and free drinks until 10:30 but if you don’t fancy food you can pay for just the Aperitif at 9pm or hit the party later on at 11pm. Hit the link for tickets.

Are you a cheapskate? Then graduate to a free-skate. If you fancy a bit of early winter sports or would like to try ice skating for the first time this Sunday provides a perfect opportunity. The ice rinks at Oerlikon and Heuried are offering a chance to skate for free between the hours of 10am and 7pm. If hitting the ice sounds a bit too much, Orb-it, 25Hours Hotel and Viva con Agua Schweiz team up to host a bazaar with lots of selected second hand items on sale. As well as the sale there will be a cake buffet, drinks and a DJ to spin some great tunes. Sounds great, no? What i really like about this event is that 50% of the purchase price goes to Viva con Agua Schweiz who are working to try to provide clean water to people around the globe. A great cause to buy clothes for.

As we gear up for the start of a new ski season there are plenty of opportunities for inspiration. This Sunday Freeride Film Festival and The Freeride Experience are showing 6 films about, yes, you guessed it, freeriding. This year, there is a strong focus on the environment and sustainability as well careering down a mountain on a plank of wood.

This Wednesday DJ, songwriter and producer, « Fink,» makes his triumphant return to Zurich to play the Kaufleuten. If you are not familiar with his music then he combines blues infused vocal lines with bleak soundscapes and minimalistic and hypnotic grooves. Whether you are familiar with his stuff or not, i recommend checking this one out.
