Like a summer homecoming for a footloose friend who has been away for the cold winter months, the Sonnendeck at Primitivo has returned and will be opening its shutters tonight (Thursday) for the first time this year. During the winter, this location on the Letten feels a little desolate but each summer the music, colour and life of the Primitivo rises up out of the dirt, like a slightly bedraggled phoenix, to make this one of my favourite places to enjoy the sunny days and balmy nights of Zurich. The opening party will have music from djs, as well as a live mariachi band (it is Cinco de Mayo after all). And with today being a holiday and the sun shining again, what's not to like?

I was looking forward to seeing some unpredictable imagery at the Erratic Art exhibition at Photobastei until I had a closer look at the details and realised that it is, in fact, an Erotic Art exhibition. Obviously my 'unpredictable imagery' expectations rose sky-high. The exhibition itself covers a lot of the erotic landscape and history from 19th Century hand-coloured pornographic postcards to a modern photographic study of brothel rooms. Alongside the exhibition, zwischenwetlen.ch are also putting on a number of events and installations. Tonight (Thursday) is the opening party. On Saturday they have an Open House that includes a number of performances including the tactile joys of The Weight of Breasts by Bronwen Darling. This is followed by a Play Party, where you can explore your own sexuality with an Introduction to Whips, a hypnosis workshop or even a little Orgasmic Yoga. Other events include Best of Porny Days Shorts, (20th May), a concert from Rachel Lark, the Musical Muse of the Sexpositive Revolution (28th May) and true stories of sexual adventure with the Bawdy Story Night (4th June). The exhibition will run until the 5th June.

The Photo Laundry, at Frau Gerold’s Garten on Sunday, isn’t a place for you to go and sanitise those dirty pictures you’ve got on your phone, rather it’s an interactive photo exhibition where you bring along at least one printed/developed photo, in any size or format you want, write your name and a message to the future owner on the back, and hang it on a clothes line. You then take another photo of your choice in exchange. Your photos should fall under one of the following themes: Abstract, Street Photography, Creative Landscape or Creative Portrait. They will also have free sessions with professional photographers on the themes of the exhibition.

I say that the gourmet burger trend has had its day. Long live the burrito. I’ve seen a few places around town that are serving this Mexican fast food, like Burrito Brothers, but the latest is Cartel - Crazy Burrito Shack. In Cartel you can mix and match your own choice of ingredients to create the burrito of your dreams, and if you’re tough enough even pimping it with one of their hot sauces, i dare you to try The Crazy One. If you’re not hungry, they also have a selection of 10 tequila’s to give you that fiesta feeling.
