Ah, tis the season. Marroni stands are replacing ice cream stands, Christmas markets are on the horizon, and everybody is thinking about their first cup of Glühwein, or maybe some hot apple cider. Another round of voting has come and gone (and for those of you who can't vote, i hope you reminded all your Swiss people to get theirs in) and we're all getting ready to hunker down and hibernate. For all you summer people, i'm sorry, but it's time to turn up the thermostats and wave good bye, watching as summer fades away across the horizon... Farewell...

Directioners! Do, or is it did, you love British/Irish boyband One Direction? If you want to learn how to become a Directioner there is an interesting article here but a good start would be to attend the concert of former member, Louis Tomlinson. He’s playing at the enormous Hallenstadion to promote his new record «Faith In the Future,» this Monday and i have two pairs of tickets to give away!

Just because you can never have enough good pizza, we’ll be celebrating the opening of a new pizzeria, Da Pone (it’s like Al Capone, but completely different). This new joint promises a meeting of Naples and Zürich, making traditional pizzas, as well as a feeling of famiglia that you could expect in the corner pizzeria on a small, Italian street. Oh and the absolute best part? They’re open every. Single. Day.

Whilst out for a walk on Sunday i grabbed my first bag of roasted chestnuts of the season. I love the taste and texture of these winter treats. And they are pretty versatile too as you can make savoury stuffing with them or the sweet vermicelles. I love them, however they are prepared. Any hoo, while working hard on the internet, (or was it hardly working,) i found stumbled across stadtzuerchermaroni.ch, a website dedicated to these wonderful nuts. The website also features a map which shows exactly where in the city the chestnut trees are and where you can find them on the ground. Take a stroll, pick up some, (free, very unusual in ZH,) chestnuts and try out some delicious recipes.
