Frozen Ponies
Longstreet – the bar where time stands still with its red velvet and dark wood decor. Though it’s been a while since half naked girls danced here. This Thursday the venue’s highlight is female once more. The Frozen Ponies are four women which rock like a hybrid of Johnny Cash, Adriano Celentano and Wanda Jackson. Thursday 8 pm, Longstreet

Pink is big
The Big Pink conquered the hearts of all indie electro lovers with their fusion of abstract noise, pop-melodies and electronic finesse. In their new album Future This, the British band brought indie and electro even closer together. They present their latest release this Friday at Mascotte, supported by Swiss LaFayette. Golden Era

The music club Mehrspur is part of Zurich University of the Arts to offer a stage for its students. This Saturday, jazz of the past meets new beats of today. The party Goldenera combines the sound of the golden 20s and 30s with beats from the third millennium. The swinging party sounds like a sunny start into a beautiful spring. Entry is for free, but a small donation is welcome.

Sound of Zurich
This weekend you get the rare chance to hear 40 Zurich bands play where they usually practice and work: in their band rooms, living rooms or their favourite bars. Have a look at the programme to see who is playing when and where and enjoy the discovery tour through Zurich. The soundabout party takes place on Saturday at Revier. Saturday 10 pm, Revier Saturday & Sunday, all around town

Tuesday’s grey

Tuesday is a difficult weekday, the week stretches long ahead of you and the past weekend seems to be in a distant past. This is why I like going to concerts on Tuesday. This week, Ödland plays at Café Henrici. I look forward to hearing this minimal, romantic, classic and avant-garde French band in an intimate atmosphere. Tuesday could turn into a good day after all.

Eating - Si o No

Si o No is an institution. Whenever I’m there I’m surprised how little it has changed over the years. And how contemporary it still feels. Maybe they add slight changes which I don’t notice. But I noticed their changing menu. Every Saturday and Sunday from 11 am, they serve a “hangover breakfast”: Tortilla, baked beans, coffee, Bloody Mary. Sounds like a Spanish version of a fried breakfast.

Band camp
Last October, 59 upcoming musicians worked for one month at the cultural centre Matadero in Madrid. Within the Red Bull Music Academy, they had the privilege to work and exchange oppinions with musicians from around the world. Like every year, the free Gratis-Kompilation Various Assets - Not For Sale was published a few months later, which contains the fruits of their worl. To the download
