Sometimes we all want to be weightless, silent and free from all the stress of everyday life. Well, you know i like to give you Ronsters many things but a rocket flight to the moon may need to wait for another year. So instead I offer four of you the chance to drift away in the womb-like isolation of a float bath. There you can spend an hour completely in your own world and floating in dreamy zero gravity. Tonight, the owners of Hafenkneipen open their new bar, El Dorado. As the name suggests the style isn’t of the north, like it’s older brother, but comes from typical South American cantinas. The style is also a little more refined but I’ll let you know more about it once it’s been opened its doors and I’ve tasted the pleasures that El Dorado has to offer.

Since November last year, Cabaret has been a members only club but if you turn up on Friday for the Dubexmachina party you’ll not only get access to the club but if you ask nicely at the bar they’ll grant you membership for future events. If that wasn’t enough encouragement to get you down there, headlining the party is London dupstep dj Kode9, supported by Swiss talents zenit & faust and dxm soundsystem.

Whilst we all rush headlong into the bright, dazzling digital future some bands have decided that, no, actually they like the fuzzy sounds guitars make and the dirty thrash of a snare drum. The Black Keys are a great example of this (playing in Zurich on Tuesday) but Band of Skulls also like to take a song out back and rough it up a little. The UK trio play Mascotte on Saturday.

Pfingstweide has decided to close January with an exclusive party. Playing live they’ll have Azari & III, who are a Canadian quartet that resurrect the thrills, pills and 808 chills of late 80’s Hacienda and Chicago house and rave music. Whilst upstairs a couple of fantastic djs, Matthew Styles and Yossi Amoyal, spin their bouncy, bass driven grooves. Both dj some of the best clubs in Europe and are currently residents of Berlin, via London and Israel.

To all Australian Ronsters, I would like to wish you a bonzer Australia Day today. The 26^th January commemorates the day in 1788 when the First Fleet arrived in Sydney Cove and decided they liked the place. Party: Hiltl are celebrating with dj Awi and the best Australian party tunes, as well as serving Cooper Beer to accompany the specially invited didgeridoo players. There is also the ever-present Outback Lodge but if you’re looking for something a little more raucous-free try Restaurant Six, which is owned and operated by a cool Aussie family and does a nice line in Aussie beers and wine. Community: Being half a world away from home can be tough, so aussies.ch is a social network aimed at bringing the Aussie community in touch with each other, whilst homesick.com.au will keep you in touch with Australian movies, tv shows and music. If you’re also pining for that something the Swiss just don’t understand to be essential to your happiness, such as crisps and sweets from back home, then try the online Aussie Shop.

I found an impressive photo series on the website Street Art Utopia that consists solely of 3D-street-art. Often you get the feeling that you’re actually standing in front of Lego figures or that you’re falling down.
