Seu Jorge is one of Brazil’s best known singers. I’ve liked him since I first heard his voice on the soundtrack of Wes Anderson’s The Life Aquatic, singing Portuguese Bowie covers. He now brings his smoky, soulful music to Rote Fabrik, with his band Almaz. Although rather than their own songs, they’ll be playing a selection of their favourite covers including Michael Jackson and Kraftwerk. Just like a dream radio. Tune in and bop out.

Continuing the birthday trend from last week, Josef is celebrating its 20th anniversary this week. They are planning a month long party of live acts and djs, starting Thursday with dj AC Kupper and a live set from local singer Cyrano. It’s good to see some of my favourite places are still popular and getting to the grand old age of 20. As Cyrano himself sings, ‘Don't need New York because I live on Josef Street’.

For all you who didn’t get a ticket to the fashion show – don’t despair. There are two more fashion events taking place this week. On Thursday Swiss designer Nino Bollag presents his collection – which he already showed in Paris – at Schiffbaustrasse 10. After party happens at Bundeshaus (former Seebähnli). On Saturday, the Swiss designer fashion show Kostume takes place at Maag Areal (not event hall). No presale at this show. First come, first served. But I have one pair of tickets to give away.

You don’t need to love penguins to get any enjoyment out of Der Zoo this weekend. After their first party earlier this year, Der Zoo returns to Alte Kaserne for a weekend of raving with some of the finest local and international djs around including Fukkk Offf, Rex The Dog (from London) and Sexinvaders. If you need to let your wild beast loose this weekend, Der Zoo seems the appropriate place to do it.

Chestnuts are my favourite food in Autumn. Be it as a caramelized version as a side dish of venison. Or less recognisable - as Vermicelles, a sweet traditional Swiss desert. Both dishes make it back onto the menu now the leaves turn yellow and red. At the same time Marroni stalls pop up. More chestnuts, but roasted this time. I’ll make it my goal for this season to find the best Marroni stall in town. Send me your favourites too! Roasted chestnuts are also great when prepared from scratch. You can buy the at Migros/Coop or collect them yourself in Ticino.
