Zurich (EN) : Zurich 7.10.10: Be stupid, fondue frenzy and dr feelgood

Ladies night

Lady Bumb puts on another party especially for women, and the women they love. If you want to hear great deluxe-pop tunes with a crowd of like-minded people then this is the perfect night for you. Djane Heldin im Chaos will be providing the soundtrack with the expectation of some surprise guests.
Thursday 9 pm, Labor Bar

Reading and writhing

If weirdness, sex, drugs and books are your idea of a good time (and why shouldn’t they be?), you have probably heard of Bret Easton Ellis. The author has now, twenty-five years after Less Than Zero, written a sequel that follows the teens of his breakout novel into middle age.  He will be reading excerpts from Imperial Bedrooms at Kaufleuten and I can guarantee at least two of your favourite things to be on show. I also have 3x2 tix to give away. Email me.
Friday 8 pm, Kaufleuten

Invisible men

I first heard about The Invisible back in 2008 and they have been generating quite a bit of attention back in the UK since then. Their debut album even being nominated for a Mercury prize last year. The boys now bring their funky space-pop to Zurich and it’ll be good to see if my predictions for greatness were justified. My Ron-dar for these things is rarely wrong! See what you think. I have 2x2 tix to give away. Email me.
Friday 10 pm, Exil

Dancing in the street

Being smart gets too much credit sometimes. Being stupid gives us the chance to be brave, create and not care about consequences. This Saturday you’re invited to be stupid for music when Diesel puts on a silent party. Just slip on your headphones and bring your private, freaky, dancing world overflowing into Bahnhofstrasse. Dj’s from Alte Börse and Mascotte will give you cover. Dance like no one’s watching and let your stupid flag fly.
Saturday 3 pm, Diesel Store, Bahnhofstrasse 48

Dr feelgood

He is not only a groove rogue, but also a wise jazz hipster with a very special aura: the Hammond organist Dr. Lonnie Smith, who is never without a turban and a walking stick is an original. His amazing performances give any audience guaranteed positive vibrations. The good Dr and his jazz trio will be bring their unique homebrewed medicine to sooth your ills as part of the Widder Bar's month of jazz.
Tuesday 8 pm, Widder Bar

Fondue frenzy

As Autumn turns surely to Winter i have to recommend a visit to the Rimini tent for a good and inexpensive lunch but really sensational is the Fondue offer from CHF 22 per person. It tastes so good I have 2 x fondue for 2 to give away. For the rest of you: [email protected]. It is daily until the end of the month. More info.
11.30 am to 2 pm, Lunch in tent
6 pm to 10 pm, Fondue time

Singing in the rain

If Oakland is best known for its homicide rate which is the highest in the USA, YAKfilms, a band of passionate dancers reveal another facet of their city. Virtuoso movement, combining strength and flexibility, they transport us into a stunning urban ballet. Gene Kelly may be resting in peace, but i'm sure his toe is tapping. Here
