With all of the music festivals happening around Switzerland, it would be a shame to miss a free one that is delivered almost to your doorstep. Openair Wipkingen is now in it’s 6th year, and this year promises another set of underground Swiss bands to enjoy including Tim and Puma Mimi, Ian Constable and Knackeboul. It may not be as big as other festivals but i like one you can get to by bike or tram.

Yarah Bravo is a hip hop artist from London/Berlin and she has the motto, Good girls rarely make history. These seem wise words indeed and should be encouraged. You can see her trying her best to make some history at Helsinki Club this Saturday. She is supported by dj That Fucking Sara and dj Soulsonic.

If you’re a fashion enthusiast then the graduation show of the fashion design school of Zurich should be the place for you. 16 students will show, for the first time, their individual visions of fashion design this Sunday. The show is called "New Harvest" and you will see sixteen interpretations of fashion and design in the context of different cultures, and if you’re lucky maybe one or two tips for what to wear this winter.

There was a time when late night shopping on a Thursday was cool until the city fathers decided to ban it, but now a small group of rebel shops in Kreis 4 has decided, at least for a short time, to re-introduce it. The last Thursday of each month, from June to August, the following stores will open their doors to you until 10pm: Glam, Petit Poeme, Street-Files, Making Things, Lux Plus, Ikou Tschüss, Saus und Braus and Hum Records.

It’s the final group game for Switzerland on Friday evening against Hondurus (Hopp Schwiiz!). I would recommend getting down to Amboss Ramp to watch the game followed by the Vintage Nights afterparty. Whatever the result of the game the retro sounds of northern soul, rock n roll and motown followed-up with an exotic burlesque show will transport you to a place where football is a distant memory.

What do you call an Italian restaurant that doesn’t sell pizza? Confident in their kitchen, i would say. Restaurant Italia offers great pasta and meat dishes, as well as a large selection of fine Italian salami to enjoy. It has an outside area that is great for summer evenings, and the ambiance of the place is set by the retro jukebox that blasts out old soul and rock n roll vinyl.

In London you can ask your local government for permission to ban traffic from passing through your road for a certain period of time. Why?, I hear you ask. Well, once this is done, you are then allowed to organise a street party to get to know your neighbours a bit better or for whatever reason you can think of! Sounds cool!
