Zurich (EN) : Zurich, 9.9.10: Weird ideas, Moustache Princess & U2 tickets to sell/swap

Hi Gast,
you have:
Rock n’ roll royalty

Like something from a fevered dream, Jackie Brutsche will be bringing her one-women-show, The Moustache Princess, to Helsinki. The show is a clash of rock n roll, cabaret, theatre and just a little bit of crazy. Taking on such minor themes as life, icons and art there should be a little something for everyone. And as an added twist the show is performed in English (with a little Swiss rapping!)
Thursday/Friday 9 pm, Helsinki Klub

Cha, cha, changes

Before Thai Thai Club closes for a couple of weeks of refurbishment, they plan to go out with a bang. Cha cha cha will bring two floors of sounds – dj’s Ertu Denli, Pushking Noize and Katakombot bring electro/tech house to the lower and dj's Juwan and Massach playing reggae/roots on the upper. By the time they reopen the ringing in your ears should have stopped.
Friday 11 pm, Thai Thai Club

Pirates of the (air)waves

If you grew up in London, you knew about the pirate radio stations. Dj’s playing music in the illegal shadows with only a wing, a prayer and a transmitter to get them through. How times have changed. As part of the International Radio Festival, FlexFM, perhaps the most famous of the once illegal London pirates, have been invited to represent and play at the London Night party. Now you can dance to the music without worrying about the grooveless hand of the law on your shoulder. I'm also proud to say the London Night will be presented by me and to help spread the radio love i have 4 pairs of tickets to give away. e-mail me.
Friday 10 pm, Papiersaal

Back to school

Hive gives you a chance to return to school this Saturday, with their KinderGarten night. Ziggy Kinder will be playing a live set of his bass driven electro grooves, followed by dj’s Einzelkind (Only Child), Kellerkind (Cellar Child), PirateKind (Pirate Child) – well, you get the idea! They say your school days were the best, now let’s see if a school night lives up to the hype.
Saturday 11 pm, Hive

Dakini

Susanne Seiler opened a small bed and breakfast called Dakini at Brauertsrasse 87 about seven years ago. Now the landlady took over the former Iroko bar and changed it to a comfortable and freshly renovated café & bar. I haven’t seen it yet, as the opening is tonight, but i’m always a supporter of new places to go to in my neighbourhood. The locale offers breakfast until 2 pm, and from 6 pm it’s time for apéro – and if you’re too tired to go home, get a room upstairs.
Thursday 6 pm, Dakini

Good to know

Lost & Found: I believe there must be a parallel universe where all my lost goods are stored. As well as various umbrellas, gloves and shades, I’d find the odd object here and there (such as my TV remote control!). Unfortunately that’s just a fantasy. But in reality, the local authorities are responsible for returning lost items to their rightful owners. Therefore the city of Zurich and the VBZ run a joint lost-and-found office that handles all items found within the municipal region. Unless it’s a key with a serial number, you'll have to go to the so-called Fundbüro in person. SBB goes a step further; go online and describe your lost item and you'll receive an e-mail to tell you if it matches anything that was handed in. If you're too late or if you're just interested in what people lose, visit the shop Fundsachenverkauf in Wollishofen. The shop sells goods lost on public transport from all over Switzerland which haven’t been reclaimed by their owners. Their stock includes everything from iPods to bikes – and even a 100 pack of condoms!

Weird Ideas

Well there are all kinds of things I'm sure you haven't tried yet. Some are worthwhile, some not so much. To convert yourself into a human hay bale probably belongs to the second category. But you can watch what it would look like in the video hay bailing fun.

Compare costs of living

Expatistan.com helps you compare the living costs of many cities around the world. Quite interesting. And if, after that, you still don't feel like working, go to this site and play a few games. The games are rather simple but the good thing is that they look like serious work - spreadsheets, texts and charts.
