Photographer Georg Gatsas’ portraits and landscapes focus on the New York locales of Chinatown and the Bowery, an area formerly known as the Five Points, and his new book of the same name is set to launch at BolteLang on Thursday night. Razzia has been organizing really interesting things lately. After last week’s fashion show, they have invited Red Holloway and the Blue Flagships. The Blue Flagships are a Swiss-Austrian-American Band, and Red is an 82-year-old internationally acclaimed saxophonist who played with big names like Billie Holiday, Chuck Berry and Aretha Franklin. That can’t be bad! Come and dance with me to some R&B of the 40’s.

I always like music festivals that give me the opportunity to enjoy a variety of artists. This weekend m4music is back. What strikes me as a hot ticket is the session with folk-rock singer Mr. Gonzalez: he is a Swedish artist with Argentinean blood. This mix is an explosive one, and in order for you to get what I mean, I am giving away two pairs of tickets to his show on Friday. Email me.

Here I am again, telling you about Cabaret, but what can I do? It simply has some of the bests parties, and I can’t help but have a great time whenever I go there. This Saturday there is the Cosmic Chile party.  As you all know, sometimes I am nostalgic for the nights (and days) at the good old Dachkantine. This is not the only party going on at Cabaret that night; the guys from Fashionslave are there, celebrating their grand store opening (Viadukt 29).

And for the ones with some energy left after clubbing at Cabaret, just close by there is the after hours Flush from 8 am till 6 pm. If I am in the mood, I will check it out just after breakfast.

In Kaufleuten on Wednesday, the ex-Depeche Mode member Alan Wilder takes the stage with his solo project, Recoil. His music is now a mix of electro, trip hop and experimental music. The sun is shining and I feel like socialising again after my winter sleepiness, and meeting up with friends for an alfresco meal sounds about right. I discovered a great Italian restaurant in Kreis 4: Pane e Olio at Cramerstrasse 8, just around the corner from Schmuklerski. The venue is small, modern and simple. It only has about 6 tables, but when the sun is out it also boasts an outside area that makes you feel like you’re in Italy. Food is delicious! Best to book ahead: 044 240 0250.

Havana isn’t clean or rich, but it’s a wonderful city. At least according to Van Royko! Those of you who’d like to see it through his eyes, take a look at the video on vimeo.com.

Freddie can sing, play keyboard and guitar. In the video he does all three at once (no – you aren’t seeing double!) and plays songs that all of us have heard before: title themes from hit television series. You’ll recognize them immediately. And…action!
