Fries, Damned Fries & Statistics - The Best Fries In Town

Do you know anyone who doesn't like fries? I don't. Because it's a very simple equation: potatoes cut into strips + fried + well-seasoned + sauce = love ♥ Whether thick, thin, with ketchup, mayo, cocktail sauce, or even mustard – I love them all. Zum Gaul
For me, the sauce is the key to many dishes, and I find almost nothing more frustrating than when I only get a tiny packet of ketchup with my plate of fries. Fortunately, there's Sympa-Gaul. A whole six delicious sauces to help yourself to, organic potatoes, well-seasoned fries, the Hardbrücke romance very Zurich-like, and the service staff charming. Maybe, like me, you’ll dance off the fried happiness on Geroldstrasse and then roll home along the tracks.

Piccolo Giardino
The fries at «Giardino» are simply unbeatable – fresh and fine. I wondered afterward if it was due to the kitchen staff, the house cocktail «Magali Rouge,» or the warming evening sun that made me float home, satisfied and well-fed. Either way, I'll go back.

Gump
At Gump, the fries almost become a side issue. Not because they aren't incredibly fine, because they are. But the many colourful, half-naked, and tattooed people honestly distract a bit. Anyway: I tried the Classic Letten Fries (rather thick) and the sweet potato fries (rather thin) and was very impressed. On top of that, there's as much ketchup and mayo as you want – I like it.

Badipommes überall - Badi Fries Everywhere!
I can't remember a moment when a cardboard tray full of generously salted pool fries didn't put a satisfied smile on my face. And the best part is that you can experience this high between Tiefenbrunnen and Letzi in various «Badis». Hot summer day, good book, buzzing bees, cool water, and fries on top – seventh heaven.

Zum Guten Glück
If you want authentic Dutch fries, you should head to the corner of Stations-/Weststrasse. I chose the «Patat Speciaal,» which traditionally comes with freshly chopped onions and peanut sauce – for me, of course, the obligatory ketchup couldn't be missing. It was delicious, Ron in luck.

Stazione Paradiso
Not really fries, but finely fried potatoes with sesame sauce on top: I must say, the plate looked like it came from paradise. It kind of does. The portion is really huge, and the combination of classic potatoes and sweet potatoes, as well as lime and sesame, tastes like pure summer.

Sternen GrillWhen you pass by the Sternengrill, you almost always see a long line. But don't let that scare you – things move quickly here. And even if most people in front of you order a St. Galler bratwurst, it's worth trying the fries and then sitting by the lake.

HunchoThe first time I stopped by «Huncho,» an employee was just pressing the potatoes through a fry cutter. I was somehow so impressed by it that I didn't realise it was suddenly my turn. So, I had to quickly decide on a sauce and chose the Huncho chilli sauce. Absolutely recommendable.

What definitely shouldn't be missing here are the fries that pop up seasonally, like the Atomic Fries from Meret and Linda, or the Züri Fries in Summergarte.
