Why do we go Slow?
Booster Instructors will always ask you to move a little slower.
Why do we want you to slow down the movement? And why is it so important?
When you take out the momentum, and put the work and effort into the muscles, you will be incorporating more muscle fibers (and in a much safer way than with an explosive movement ). When you perform the exercises slower, you activate your Slow-Twitch Muscle Fibers.
And why are the Slow-Twitch muscle fibers important to activate?
They are your endurance, fat-burning, toning, sculpting fibers. If you want to create a well-defined physique, you need to stimulate your Slow-Twitch muscle fibers. When you work very slow and with control, the result is to really tighten the muscle fibers instead of forcing them to just get larger.
So next time you are in class, try to go slower with each exercise to optimize your 50 minutes!
Do you know The Mermaid Crunch?
Mermaid is all about firing up your obliques. The oblique muscles are the muscles that run up and down the sides of your torso.
The primary mover is the oblique facing the ceiling. Reaching with your arm straight up to the sky while keeping the tension on the primary oblique.
