The Precinct Might Skip PC at Launch, According to New Evidence

The upcoming GTA-like game The Precinct might not launch on PC alongside its console versions, despite being confirmed for a PC release at some point in the future. This speculation stems from recent evidence suggesting that the game’s PC port may be delayed.
Developed by the British studio Fallen Tree Games, The Precinct is an open-world action-adventure game that offers Grand Theft Auto-style gameplay, but with players stepping into the role of a police officer instead of a criminal. The game was officially announced in June 2023 by UK-based publisher Kwalee, with confirmed development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
While no official statement was made regarding a staggered release, recent findings have raised concerns. The Precinct's ESRB rating, reviewed by Game Rant, lists only the console platforms and omits PC entirely. While this could be a simple oversight, it is unusual for multi-platform games to be rated for some platforms but not all. This omission has led to speculation that The Precinct might skip a simultaneous PC launch, similar to the delayed release of GTA 6 on PC.
These concerns are further supported by the game's development timeline. Originally set for an August 2024 release, The Precinct was first delayed to fall 2024. It was then postponed again to the first half of 2025. These delays suggest that the game may be encountering development challenges, which is not uncommon, especially for smaller indie teams like Fallen Tree Games, which has just six employees, according to LinkedIn data.

Another possibility is that the studio chose to expand the scope of the game in response to the attention it has garnered since its announcement. The game’s demo, released in mid-October 2024, was downloaded over 100,000 times in just a few days, showcasing strong interest. While increasing the scope of a game late in development is possible, the delays are more likely a result of other production hurdles.
Kwalee has not yet begun accepting pre-orders for The Precinct and has not set a specific price for the game. What is known is that the action-adventure will take place in the fictional Averno City in 1983, where players control a cop striving to clean up the streets while uncovering a neo-noir storyline.
