The Thing: Remastered Set to Launch December 5
The Thing: Remastered is gearing up for its launch on Thursday, December 5. This remastered version of the 2002 video game, inspired by John Carpenter’s iconic sci-fi horror movie The Thing, is bringing the classic survival-horror title to modern platforms. Originally released to critical acclaim, the game was celebrated as one of the standout survival-horror experiences of its time.
Given the game's success, there has been a strong demand for a remaster to make it accessible to a new generation of players. Nightdive Studios has taken on the task, promising to release The Thing: Remastered before the year's end. While an official release date hadn’t been confirmed, recent reports suggest that the game will arrive on December 5, as revealed by a post from Xbox outlining upcoming games. The post confirms that the remaster will be optimized for Xbox Series X/S consoles and will support Smart Delivery, although the date could still change.
The Thing: Remastered is a direct sequel to the 2002 film, with players investigating the fate of a research team at a remote outpost while facing the terrifying alien parasite. The game combines survival-horror and third-person shooter mechanics and was well-received upon its release.

This remaster brings several enhancements to improve the experience for today’s players, including upgraded graphics and better performance. One of the most notable improvements is the revamped Infection system, which had been a source of frustration in the original. These changes aim to smooth out some of the original's rough edges, ensuring a more polished and engaging experience.
Fans of The Thing can be confident that Nightdive Studios, known for its high-quality remasters of classic games, is handling the project with care. Whether the December 5 date holds or not, it won’t be long before players can revisit this chilling title in a new light.
