The Black Crowes are in town, there’s the rapper Offset plays tonight and there is a smattering of Latin artists hitting the stages of Zurich venues. We also have the last Kreisflohmi before the summer break with Kreis 9 showing us what they’ve got - but more importantly, want to get rid of!

Weds: Think You Can Make It Across The Lake? Now's Your Chance!

There is an ever-growing Latin influence in Zurich. I often hear Spanish and Portuguese being spoken on public transport and in bars, and this weekend the food, dance and, of course, music of the Latin world will be celebrated as the Caliente Festival returns. The festival takes over pretty much the entire Kasernenareal and, one thing I’ve always noticed about it is the fair pricing, with Sunday offering free entry. So there’s really no excuse not to head down and enjoy some Latin American rhythms, food and fun.

Zurich is wonderfully international, but some stories still struggle to be heard. The Antenna Festival is looking to change that. Taking place across venues including Cabaret Voltaire, Kino Xenix and Shedhalle, the multidisciplinary festival shines a spotlight on the artistic, social and political voices of Zurich’s BIPoC and migrant communities. The six-day programme features music, performances, films, workshops, talks and exhibitions, offering the chance to discover artists, perspectives and conversations you’re unlikely to come across anywhere else in the city.

Based in Winterthur, she illustrates animals and plants, has recently started tattooing, and, with a friend, designs board games of all things.
